No it is not.

It seems that a lot of people end up paying for the stolen numbers. Starting with the person that had the number stolen. And if it is from a deceased person, their family pays when the government comes looking for the person, only to find them gone. It is sad and disgusting that people think this is acceptable for someone to do simply because they want to live in this country. But if they have broken one law by entering this country illegally, then I guess social security fraud and identity theft are just two more notches on the wood post, right?

I have no sympathy for someone who doesn't go through the red tape of becoming a legal citizen or visitor in this country. Just because someone stole a social security number to work doesn't mean he should be excused. He is still breaking the law and affecting the lives of others in the process.

Of course it's got a victim! If the mother hadn't caught it, the child would have had a bad credit history for life!
