I really don't know, Some things taste better cold and other warm or hot. Like Coffee,Meat, toast, gravy. You can eat them cold but they are better warm. And some things are better cold.
Like Soda,Beer,Tea,milk, WaterMelon. But that was a good Question. I never give it any thought til now!

Top sodas when they are especially cold:

a. Dr. Pepper
b. Coke
c. A&W Root Beer

I had a friend in college with the greatest Cokes ever. Somehow his fridge was set perfectly so it was right before it would start to turn to ice. It must have been like 0.1 degrees Celsius. Pure carbonated gold.

Partly I think because people like a soda to cool them down.
Maybe also because they have so much sugar in them that when they are warm they taste like syrup, and the cold numbs the flavor.

I do not think soda tastes better cold. I prefer room temperature actually. Soda has less taste when cold. (has to do with freezing taste buds I think)

As a general rule Americans are pre-occupied with cold when it comes to beverages and tend to miss a great many flavors or subtleties of flavors by cooling their beverages..

We're used to soda being served cold. In England they drink warm beer, we drink it cold.

I don't think it tastes better cold, I really think it tastes the same, but it feels better drinking it cold because the coolness kind of quenches your thirst better.

Anything "fizzy", should be cold, in my opinion!!!
lol
Much more refreshing that way. Otherwise, I would rather drink something without the carbonation in it.
Just my opinion!
