I'm teaching my son sign language and always have to skip these animals when reading/signing a book with him.

Its so great that you are teaching your son sign language! I'm learning sign language in school and its so much fun! In a few weeks we have to go thru the whole school day being deaf wearing earmuffs!

To make the sign for hippo make the "C" sign (you know, like the letter) with each of your hands. face your left palm up in your mid chest area, and your right palm down above your head. Then move both hands closer together and then further apart, like you were imitating how a hippo opens and closes it's mouth.

I don't know the sign for Zebra though, sorry.

You can find zebra, but not hippo at this cool ASL browser I've been using for years.
