I asked for data, which you kindly provided. For that I thank you as I am genuinely interested in other sources of date (although several or yours date from 2001 or so, and one from 1992). If we disagree, then that's OK. Oldragon

You are clearly fishing for "crime rates have skyrocketed" as you have asked this question before.

However, it may not coincide with what you want to believe, but the reality is that in my country of Australia, crime rates have NOT gone up since the 1997 gun laws were implemented. Rather, using homicide rates as the most important example, there has been stasis to a slight overall decline (link 1 + 2).

Of course, in Australia, the UK and NZ, very few people have ever owned guns. There has never been a constitutional right to own firearms, and ownership has always been restricted to certain groups (eg. hunters, sports shooters). Perhaps that is why murder rates are so much higher in the US (links 3 + 4).

But you believe whatever you want mate.

Edit - no worries. it is just frustrating when people overseas try to misrepresent what is going on in my country. the 1992 figures (link 4) show how few guns there have always been.

I just read an article where Great Britain wants the public to turn in their knives now because people are still being murdered, even though they aren't using guns.

http://news.independent.co.uk/uk/politics/article344223.ece

Some police officers are even asking to carry guns on the job now, because they do not feel safe. If they see a suspect that is believed to be armed, they are ordered not to do anything, because they have no way of defending themselves. 44 police officers have been injured with guns in the last five years, and 2 have been killed. How are the laws helping in that case? Looks like the weapons that are still being used in crimes are the ILLEGAL ones.

Gun crime has soared 35% since Great Britain introduced gun control. Notice that this article is 3 years old. Crime may have gone up even more since.

I think I've pretty well answered about Britain, let me know if you want me to find more on NZ and Aust.

We are not allowed to carry a gun or a weapon. Simple.

If they are helping to keep down gun related incidents, then I truly applaud their gun control laws........

I understand that violent crime has really skyrocketed in these countries since non-criminals can no longer protect themseves.
