cats and dogs produce different proteins that end up in their dander - also I believe some people are allergic to cat saliva proteins that end up on their fur as they clean themselves
also, sometimes you can just be allergic to whatever the cat has been playing in (e.g., ragweed). if you are allergic only to some cats or part of the time it may be that

People aren't allergic to the fur so to speak. They are actually allergic to the dander! Cats and dogs are different and produce different kinds of dander (proteins, etc.). Different things are also trapped in the fur as well, depending on where the pet goes (outside, etc.)

I believe it is in the dander of certain animals. With me some cats bother me and some don't. Can't really tell you why.

why are people allergic to mold but not pollen? UMMMM cause they are different Duce. why are people able to tie there shoes but unable to figure anything else out!?
