A friend gave me a cheap web cam to use. He didn't have the disc for easy installation. I went to the company’s website and downloaded the software. Now when I click the icon to run the program and I get a pop up saying “sorry, you have no video capture hardware”

Any suggestions on next steps?

(FYI: Dell laptop 4 months old running windows XP)

What kind of webcam is it?

The brand name is SIIG. It looks to be a cheap product, so I don't even know if I will want to keep it until I see the clarity.

Did it work for your friend?

He claimed it worked fine, he just wanted newer, bigger, better.

Did you reboot your computer after installing the software?

I did, as soon as the system prompted me to.

Does your hardware profiles say it is working properly?

I don’t know how to answer this question…. Not that computer literate.

Give more info and I will try to help more.

Anything else?

Thanks so much for your help,
Clayton
