Okay. So the first dance of the year for my high school is coming up. I was planning on asking this girl who I really like and know pretty well. But then, my sister (who went to this school) said it was "a mixer" meaning no one is supposed to have a date. And the student council was like, "this is not a date dance!". So my question is, is it still okay for me to ask this girl to the dance or should I just wait for like homecoming?

I would talk to the girl and during casual conversation ask her if she is going to the dance. Then ask her if she would like to ride with you or something. You might ask her if she would like to get something to eat before the dance. See what she says. I wouldn't make it seem like an official date. That might scare her away especially if none of her friends are going with a date. Make it more of a casual friend thing. Then when homecoming comes around you will be on her mind.

It is okay to ask her about her coming for the dance and act normal because, you want to know about her more before you ask her out in the future and Homecoming is special and dance in school is fun and the teens have the best time in their lives. I urge you ask normal and try not to pay so much attention to her because,if this girl does act out and you do not want to be her service at all time. LoL

Ask the girl out to another place 1st ! If she likes you she will say yes. If she is non commital go to the mixer without her, she may follow and if she doesnt you might meet somone else better that you could ask to the homecoming. If she sees that other girls like you she might not want to sit on the sideline.

you should ask her, at least for a dance.
say somehting along the lines of, "I know we're not really supposed to have dates for the ____ dance but I really like you and was wondering if you would still want to be my date?"
or you can do it in a cute way and buy a bag of tootsie rolls and take one out and write a note saying the above (asking her out) and put it inside. Then staple a note (on the outside, where she can see it) saying look for the note and put it in her locker.
she would love it and say yes.
