what interests you?

museums? lots of museums. the Met museum is suggested donation every day, so you can give a little, or a lot as you choose. the MoMA is free only on friday afternnoons. the brooklyn museum of art is free first saturdays of every month. other museums, but not free, are the museum of natural history, and the guggenheim. these are just 5 museums of dozens in nyc.

you can wander central park,

or visit brooklyn dumbo for a view of new york on the otherside of the east river. afterwards, eat pizza at grimadi's nearby, eat ice cream from the brooklyn ice cream shop, and chocolates (factory makes it from cacao bean to chocolate, rare.) at jacque torres.

too much to see and do in nyc.

wander chinatown. take the free ferry from the battery to staten island, and return.

i would skip times square, or just visit it for a few min because it's just a lot of people clogging up the streets.

shopping, you can window shop the small designer stores along mott st and elizabeth st in little italy. or visit the high end designer stores in soho, or the big department stores along 5th ave..

if you like food, nyc is one of the best places to be with it's many restaurants and stores. chelsea market (15th st and 9th ave) features some of the best artisans in new york city. the union square green market on saturdays, walk up and down sullivan street for the small italian gourmet stores (sullivan st bakery, pino's meat shop, ravioli store, etc.) essex street market (first supermarket in nyc, and perhaps america) with it's many vendors inside. etc.
