I used to be christian, so I know what the beliefs are. Even when I was religious I wondered why so many fellow christians were afraid of dying. Why is that?

For me, it's not fear of dying ( I know I will be in Heaven when it happens) it's the fear of how. I want to die peacefully, in my sleep, because my body is so old. I want to die of natural causes. I am afraid of the pain that could possibly be involved when I die. I watched my grandpa suffer through the pain of cancer when he died. I don't want to go through that. I don't want to have the pain of a massive heart attack or stroke. I don't want to be shot or beat to death.

So, that is my fear of dying. Hope this answers your question on at least one christian.

First of all most main line Christians are ignorant to the Bible's correct understanding of what happens to mankind at death. The hope of the Resurrection which Jesus and his apostles demonstrated while on earth is a hope for all. Rom.5:12 John 5:28,29 Nominal Christians have a fear of men and death since they have not taken in accurate knowledge. God did place the desire of living forever in all of his creation. The Bible describes death as an enemy, so it would be understandable why no one would want to die. But if you have the correct understanding it takes away the "fear" of dying, since it is only a non existence, from dust we came and dust we return yet we are in God's memory to be restored to a life here on the earth at a later time. Rev 20:13,14 (NO THERE IS NOT A BURNING FIERY PLACE OF TORMENT!) since you were once a Christian why not try reading the gospels again and answer this question for yourself....you might start with the account about Lazarus and how Jesus resurrected him...

hi, Many Christians decide to hedge their bets with Pascal's wager subject. all of us are going on blind faith in following our particular pathway yet: a million) no person has ever come again from being "relatively" ineffective after rigamortis has set in as an occasion to let us know what's on the different section. 2) Jesus has no longer recognized nor sent an angel to assert, hi, that's what's up for 2000 years. all the 30,000 distinctive denominations think of that their way is the actuality so some have self assurance you ought to stay a righteous existence and do works besides, others say as quickly as stored continuously stored no remember what you do incorrect and each condemns the different. This ceates auras of uncertainty and doubt with many; relatively people who apotasized. 3) Many Christians have their doubts at cases. In my case, often times i seem at those 30,000 distinctive Chriartian sects and sense that Jesus did no longer try this variety of super interest in explaining how he wanted issues finished in his church and took off without top delivering the reigns and instucting his followers. this does not sound like good perfection to me at cases. 4) even nonetheless we'd be gouing to a clean extra effective existence and subject, you're nonetheless going to omit this worldwide, friends, kin, kin and sources you labored so no longer user-friendly to get carry of and that's organic. I basically felt undesirable to be certain my well-known nephew bypass to Australia to probabaly settle there invariably. 5) ultimately this occasion approximately assembly God and being judged may well be slightly nerve racking very like waiting on a job interview or thr results of an significant examination which will make or wreck your destiny targets tha you're uncertain approximately with appreciate to how nicely you probably did. Cheers, Michael Kelly

Good question. While I am not afraid of dying, I don't think anyone of us want to be in a tragic accident where there is a lot of trauma, or suffer through a terrible disease that kills slowly.

After death, I am not afraid of what comes, I am humble and so unworthy to meet my Creator. It is more of a genuine reverance and the "fear" talked about in the Bible.

As far as fearing where I will be or the coming events, forget about it. I take God at his word and know his promise.

I'm a Christian, as Woody Allen once said, "I'm not afraid of dying, I just don't want to be there when it happens!"

I'm looking forward to heaven but....I wouldn't want to die today because
1. I wouldn't want to leave my family and my daughter, I want to see her finish college, get married and have kids.
2. I still have things that I want to do on this earth first. I'm not done living.
3. I'm afraid of the pain that it may involve

Basically, I;m selfish...I'm not done living yet. But my life is not my own to choose. I belong to God

Because even though Christians are looking forward to spending Eternity with God Our Heavenly Father, it is still a brand new experience for them.

Sort of like travelling to a new & exotic country for the first time or getting married. While you may be looking forward to it you are also anxious because of how new the experience is.

So it is with death.

first of all, if you were ever a real Christian, you would still be one. the Bible says "they went out from us because they were NEVER among us" this could be why you were afraid of death.
as for myself, I look forward to being with my savior, if I live, I am his child, if I die, I am still his child. it doesn't matter either way. I don't fear death at all. it would be a sweet release.
being religious and being a Christian are two very different things. religion gets you to church.. being a Christian ( a follower of Christ) gets you to heaven.

I have no fear of dying,as I have been thru the shadow of the valley of death, with Christ by my side.To be going home to glory,to be in the presence of my God, sweet peace. I desire His coming or my going. Whichever comes first, there is joy in my heart.

I have no fear of death,so I volunteered as a Hospice worker to bring comfort, dignity, and to honor a patients passing. I received so much more in my heart than I ever gave,I'm sure. The home coming is sweet for the saints,His children.Funerals are for the living to begin closure to the loss of their love one,the physical proof of an empty shell.

Death there is no fear,Christ has VICTORY over death.
Perhaps they lost sight of the hope & promise of their faith or perhaps the lack of faith. It is sad when those that die with no hope. Sadder still when one who had hope lost it in their fear.. Perfect love casts out all fear.
