I've lost the password for my Windows administrator account and can't log into windows at all. I've been told that I need to wipe out XP and reinstall it. How do I delete windows xp? Step-by-step directions, please!

First try booting into safemode! You do this by hitting F8 repeatedly while booting up, then change the admin account and password...if that doesn't work then take the battery out of the motherboard and that will reset the BIOS which stores that information and you can put in a new password...but I wouldn't reformat just for a password.

You have two options, you can wipe it out, or try going through the instructions given by this website. http://www.petri.co.il/forgot_administrator_password.htm I found this link earlier in this forum. (Use this method at your own risk, I can not be held responsible to damages caused by the given instructions on this site)
If you want to wipe it out, you insert your XP disc into your computer while it is starting up, but before it begins to load Windows. It should ask you a few questions, but they're pretty easy to understand and it shouldn't be too hard.

easy. put in the windows CD that came with your computer. Hit any key when it tells you to to boot from the cd. Follow the instructions, and choose to format the partition with NTFS (quick) when asked. It's very easy to install, just time consuming. You can IM me as you are doing it, and I will try to help you with the choices.

PS before you try the f8 thingie... you have to have the admin password to get into it, thus, you're still stuck.
