I'm sorry you are having side effects from abilify. I take 30 mg a day and I have no side effects. It sounds like you are taking yourself off your med. That is not a good Idea. Ask your doctor how to taper off. He/she can't make you take it. Maybe something else would work better for you. Good Luck! Hugs! Von!

The side effects of Abilify include most of the above, and:
- Very high fever, rigid muscles, shaking; confusion, sweating, or increased heart rate and blood pressure - which, according to the drug's manufacturer, could be fatal;
- abnormal or uncontrollable movements which, again, according to the manufacturer, could be permanent;
- diabetes or an increase in blood sugar levels which, in some cases, have resulted in coma or death
- impaired judgment, thinking, or motor skills;
- an inability to lower the body's temperature, so you have to make sure you don't overheat or get dehydrated.

My 12 yo son who's been taking seroquel for 2 years just started abilify-10mg 2 weeks ago, and sudenly he's having some urinary incontinence...so I looked it up, and about 1% of patients experience this side effect...we're switching him over from seroquel & his moods are much more stable on the abilify. I'm hoping that the incontinence will go away, but the doc's not given me a yes or no yet.
As for getting off it, talk to your doc....even when you can't stand it anymore, if your med changes aren't manages correctly it only makes things worse.

I'm a certified pharmacy tech and with Abilify dizziness, vomiting, blurred vision, weight gain, drowsiness and constipation may occur. Of course, there are more. And it is very important that you don't just come off the Abilify suddenly. Talk to your doctor about the best way to gradually decrease the dosage until you're off.

Please don't take yourself off of the medicine without consulting your physician first. Medications such as these can cause real problems if you just take yourself off of them on your own.
Some rare but serious side effects with Abilify include:
Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome (NMS). Symptoms of NMS include high fever, muscle rigidity (tightness), confusion, change in pulse, blood pressure or heartbeat, and sweating. It can also lead to muscle breakdown and kidney failure.
Tardive dyskinesia (TD). Symptoms of TD include involuntary (uncontrolled) and abnormal muscle movements.
Some common side effects with Abilify include:
headache
weakness
nausea
vomiting
constipation
anxiety
problems sleeping
lightheadedness (dizziness)

I really don't know but they put my grandson on 2mg and the pharmacy made a mistake and gave him 20mg and it put him in the hospital (3 different ones matter of fact the first 2 couldn't help him so he was transported by ambulance a hour and a half away to a childrens hospital) for 3 days he drooled and every muscle in his body looked like it was crawling and he would scream with pain ..It was very bad ..But in your case I don't know , but I don't like it at all but of course it wasn't the doctors fault and the 2mg may have helped but now his mom won't let him take it at all..Sorry I couldn't help you though I just wanted to share that with you..

I was fine on 5mgs a day. When I switched to 10mgs, my whole body was skiddish. I didn't feel comfortable in my own skin and I couldn't sit down long or have conversations. I had to get off that med pronto.
