Some people say that he talks I know hes with me or I'd be dead by now. I call it my id when that little voice in you head says. like a guardian angel thing I've never heard him speak physically just in my heart and head and my soul, or as I say my Id said... better get insurance on your legs... next day i got shot in the leg and hand. I know god is real in my heart but, I've never actually seen him. I've never seen Santa either but, don't he exist in your heart? Sometimes its while u r sleeping that he speaks like a dream. My dad woke up from sleep god woke him to write a poem. It was so beautiful. He listened to him. As we all should. My hair stands up on my neck or arm. I know its real. u have to listen to ur heart and head he puts it in there. That's how i know if its true. I get goose pimples and my hair stands up on my neck arm. search ur heart and soul. god answers in a timely fashion. Don't give up on him he will answer u and u will know it. Its not always right this minute that he does, hes knocking at the door right now. Behold. you search ur self he will answer and does answer. u have to be patient and, u have to ask. to receive. which we all shall if we ask.

Anthony..very good and honest question. I believe much of what you say about TV preachers too. When I was 21 I believe God spoke to me. I didn't know anything about God or Jesus..the bible etc. I did ask for the creator, the meaning of life..to speak to me...if you call it a prayer..I prayed for the first time in my life. 2 weeks later, he showed up...it wasn't on my mind..but I was just at a point where I wanted REAL answers...in the morning around 7:30 September 12 1981..a voice came in my being...a loud (many call it a small still voice) voice spoke to me on a spiritual level..I had no feeling in my body...I simply fell flat on my face. It felt like a connection with nature...I suddenly understood there was a creator...a real being..a very real God if you will...it changed me completely. If this is not true my life is an ugly lie and I do not deserve to live..if this is not the truth...my need for truth was satisfied..I have never doubted the existed of God ever since.
Thanks for your honest question!

Yes, He does. An example I can give is when I feel led by the Spirit to answer a question here, but I have absolutely no idea what to say. Then the words just pour out of me. And I know that they came from outside of me, from the Holy Spirit. And I thank God for His blessing me with the words that I pray will help someone in some way.
He tells us; "Be still and know ... that I am God." He will speak to you in the quiet recesses of your heart. May He bless you with His Love. (And, no, He hasn't changed. He is the same from forever to forever.)

Marvelous. Thanks for raising the question, quy.
a) God never shuts up. It's called the Bible.
b) Yes, there is a phenomenon, prevalent in many Pentecostal churches, of speaking in tongues. God speaks with and through a person in this.
c) Sometimes the speech is so loud you cannot hear it...in other words in thundering silence.
d) I find my guilt feelings come from my parents, society, self...and God humming.
e) Experientially, I can tell you I could not have survived in the pulpit or written so much if God had not been carrying the dialogue.
Thanks again and keep listening.

God talks to all of us. It's just not always in the obvious or dramatic way we hope for. You'll often notice that people who meditate seem more at peace and happier in life. I believe that's because they quiet their mind enough to get the message. (Unfortunately, I seem to have ADD when it comes to meditating but I do feel like God talks to me regularly.) I like Oprah's take on it when she says something like "God keeps sending you a lesson until you get it. First it might be a whisper. If you don't get it, it becomes a nudge, if you still don't get it, it might be more like a brick wall." I don't think I got the words right but that's the general idea. Authors like Wayne Dyer and Alan Cohen also talk about ways to find peace in life and reconnect to "Source" meaning God or whatever you chose to call it. Since reading their books, I've definitely heard from God more often.

I do and I wrote a book about it called Parable of the Fortune Cookie available on Amazon.com.
It started when I was in an abusive relationship and did not know what to do... I cried out to God for help and simply asked for him to just talk to me and I would do anything....Something very profound happened and that is the start of a journey for me that has been life altering, to say the least. I can't even begin to tell you the dept of the experience.
Thanks for the question.

Like other people have mentioned I would suppose the feelings of my Intuition, Conscience, and also sometimes something of a desire as ways God has spoken to me. It may not make for of good of a story as say moses and the burning bush or Job and the whirlwind, but its also more personal.
Also at least as a Catholic, we believe that Christ is the word made flesh. So the Bible for us and other Christians is another means of God communicating to his people.

God doesn't "talk" to me every day or anything like that, but on occasion I get a brief communication from Him. Sometimes it comes in the form of suddenly remembering a Bible passage or one day I just knew in my "knower" that God was telling me that He wanted me to increase my prayer life or other times I could sense that God was telling me to take a class or join a ministry or something like that.
Once when I had only been a Christian for about 5 months God spoke to me when I was at a very low point in my life. I had recently gotten out of a rehab program for Veterans and was working at a temporary job through the V.A. designed to establish a work history so that I could get permanent employment. I was making $9.50/hr and I spent $80 out of the $120 I had on a month long train pass to save money on my commute to work. When I got to work the boss called all of the veterans together and told us we were laid off due to a paper work delay and we probably wouldn't be back to work for 2 weeks until it got straightened out.
I was really upset and was planning on getting drunk after work when all of a sudden out of nowhere the Holy Spirit reminded me that God had a great plan for my life. I told God that it sure didn't seem like such a great plan but instead of getting drunk I would be watching to see how He was going to work it out. I heard about another job the very next day since I wasn't sleeping away a hang over and I applied for it. I ended up going back to my $9.50/hr job 4 days later but 2 weeks after that I got a call saying my application had been accepted. I gave my notice and showed up for the training only to find out that the company was losing their contract at the end of the month and I was going to be out of a job again. To make a long story shorter, because I finished the training with the first company and had some supervisory experience in a different field I ended up getting a job with the new company and I made over $52,000 in my first year of employment in a field that I had no prior experience in.
Now that was God talking to me and looking out for me!
1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
John 14:26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.
Here's the verse the Holy Spirit brought to my mind.
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for wholeness and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

God doesn't talk to me directly. Indirectly through the Word and doctrines.
God speaks in parables even in dreams though. I do have a knowledge of God's correspondences through the Swedenborgian doctrine. Dream communication is touchy though (more times fantasy than real communication especially if you live on this earth).
Joseph and Daniel were able to interpret dreams and visions.

Yes, God speaks regularly through the Holy Spirit to His Children. The Holy Spirit speaks directly, or through words in the Bible, or other means.
