To my knowledge it's the fusion of the part spirit to a matter(physical body) observing duality in nature. As a result of the fusion a soul is born given unique individuality. A machine such as computer can be a good analogy of a soul but can never possess one. First, there's an absence of fusion. Second, a machine has no consciousness on each own. It can program to appear it has but it's mere logic lumped together.

No a machine cannot have a soul. God created man to be a living soul. People are the only beings with souls.

If your interpretation of a "soul" is that it is an incorporeal spirit that inhabits our bodies, then not even humans have one.
If you believe it is a set of core values and ideas that the mind builds everything else off of, then animals and artificial intelligence programs DO have a soul.

In Genesis, the word Spirit and Breath are one and the same, just translated differently. Somewhere between the two is soul, or as the Bible would put it Life.
And no, a machine can not hold the Breath of God.

i feel like the soul is the purest form of self...the soul contains our path and all the means to realize it...
can a machine possess a soul? i dont think so...but, i feel like all things, manufactured or birthed from a seed, contain a force of existance that enables it to be present on this earth...atoms, matter, energy cells...all that stuff...lol...humans are made up of them, and so is a chair, or a computer chip...i guess the difference is how our cells are programmed... ; >

God knew all about us even before we were born. In fact, He gave our lives to us, and we are here because He created us and allowed us to be born. The Bible says, "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you" (Jeremiah 1:5).
Furthermore, it's important to remember that God not only made our body and our mind (through the natural processes He created), but He also gave us our soul or spirit, which is the part of us that is able to know God. We aren't just bodies or minds; if we were, we would be like every other animal (although unique because of our abilities). We also were created in the image of God.
The Bible certainly implies that we are given our souls right from the first. When the Virgin Mary, the mother of our Lord, visited her cousin Elizabeth, the baby growing in Elizabeth's womb responded: "As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy" (Luke 1:44).
Why is this important? First, it tells us that all human life—including that of the unborn—is sacred in God's eyes and must not be wantonly destroyed. Second, it tells us that God wants us to know Him! God loves us and He wants to come into our lives and begin to change us from within. Is this happening in your life? It can, by opening your heart and life to God's Son, Jesus Christ.

The soul is the sense of self and yes, a machine can have that, and no, it doesn't survive after death and neither will yours.

We all have a soul in us, it all started in Heaven when you were a thought of God, you became spirit, God send you on your way to earth to be born, to be a redeem person.
Your soul is like a phone, it's the connection to God. no machine can pose as a spirit, God knows what he created.
