I have a bear problem on my hunting lease and can't kill as there is no season in Florida so I just want to drive them out of my area.

I'd check with Florida Fish & Game. Problem bears are a game warden problem to handle. I don't think you appoach is a option under the regs.

If you having a black bear issue, report it to you Department of Natural Resources / Fish & Game.

If you shoot at a bear with rock salt, blanks, or anything else, you are liable to be charged with attempting to kill game out of season or without a license (if they are in season and you do have a license, just kill the thing and donate it to a food pantry if you don't want the meat).

Many DNRs will issue special permits for hunters to take the bears, or might trap the bears themselves if they are a threat to life or property.

Good luck to you!

rock salt is your best bet for non lethal shot but I am guessing by your name you fish alot and that could be the attraction. On the other hand when I am not working I am fishing or hunting I happen to have an un filled bear tag in Or.

Buy some dove loads, about #6 shot. Pry open the criimped ends, pour out the shot and fill them with rock salt. That will sting, but not kill.
