Some people in the U.S. donate money to police organizations. In return they get a sticker to apply to the rear bumper of their car. Some even apply it directly to the license plate. When/if the vehicle is pulled over for a traffic violation, the police officer will notice that somebody associated with the vehicle has supported their organization, making it less likely the driver will receive a ticket for any violation.

I do it. Maybe it should be illegal for the police to hit people up for money.

The police don't care one way or the other if someone has donated or not. It is common knowledge among police that the people who put these stickers on or who buy DARE license plates are many times drug dealers, especially with the DARE plates. Having a sticker will not make it less likely for anyone to get a ticket. What about if a Christian cop pulls over someone with a Jesus fish on the back of their car. Are they less likely to get a ticket? No. The bottom line is that if you commit a traffic violation, you will most likely get a ticket. The biggest factor is your past driving history. If the Officer runs your license and you have received several tickets already for what you were just pulled over for, you will get a ticket. If you were only a few miles over the limit and have no record, you may get a warning. It's the Officer's discretion based on you and your history, not a sticker (that you could've pulled off someone else's car).

you haven't any longer have been given any clue approximately what you're seeing. while an officer activates his lights fixtures to circulate by a pink gentle and then he turns them off he's dashing to a decision the place he does no longer prefer to alert the criminal or the call does no longer warrant emergency equipment utilization. while an officer is going out on patrol he's no longer likely everywhere. he's biding time until he gets a decision on his radio. So there is not any could desire to hurry by site visitors or do despite else you spot. that's sparkling which you haven't any longer have been given any wisdom in any respect of police paintings. Its additionally incredibly obvious which you're incredibly immature in case you like to place a sticky label like that for the duration of your motor vehicle.

Heh. Doing that works sometimes, and not others.

I know one particular Police Chief whose orders were to ticket anyone who has a law enforcement sticker on their car, or who flashes a badge, or in any other way identifies themselves as law enforcement.

He said that his Officers could give a citizens without a sticker a warning if they so chose. But anyone in law enforcement or who purported to support law enforcement by having a sticker on their car should obey the law, so they got the ticket, no excetions.

No, and actually a lot of drug transporters put the sticks on their car so that if they are pulled over the officver will let them go. So departments will train their officers to pay more attention to cars with the stickers on them.

I dont think it should be illegal. Its Freedom of Expression. However, I do think the ONLY reason people put them there is they believe it will get them out of a ticket. This leads me to my point. If you werent breaking the law in the first place, it wouldnt matter. So I just think its stupid to give only hoping a sticker will get you out of trouble.

No, it's freedom of expression. If you want to express to people that you have donated to the police orginizations all the power to you. People put all sorts of stickers on their cars so it shouldn't be illegal

Trust me, the officer doesn't care. Ten bucks to the FOP won't get you out of any tickets. Why should it be unlawful for someone to say they support any organization?

I've just stuck a sticker on the back of my lorry.
It says "IRRITANT".
I am waiting for the tickets to roll on in.

Hi. No, freedom of expression and all. But you better hope the officer doesn't ask you for a receipt!
