This question is predicated on the existance og God. So, agnostics and athiests, please don't answer. "There is no God or god, so how can he be good" is the answer that you would give and not only have I read it but I have also written it - for you!

It was the "religious" church that gave Oral most strife, not the non religious people. There is only one God and He is good, no more then one needs to be considered.

Us calling God a good God is not judgeing Him.
No! He didn't deservre any flack. God is a good God. It is easy to see His goodness and, if we look around us, we see it everywhere.
Just open your eyes.
Evidence of His goodness -
Creation
Health/healing
Guidance
Salvation
Faith not fear
A sound mind
You add your own evidence to the list.

Hello. The concept that God is a good God and the devil is a bad devil, has come about 300 years after the resurrection of Jesus. Before the time the Roman Church was founded, there was only God, the Presence that is totally good with no evil connotations or opposites. The good and evil concept came about when a Priest of the Roman Church by the name Jerome invented an opposite to God named Lucifer. Lucifer is the bad devil created as an opposite to a loving good God. This phenomenon came about by Jerome in order to control the Church public at that time. The name Lucifer is the only Latin word in the Bible. Read the foot note in the amplified bible, Isaiah14. where you will find that the evil one is not what we thought it was. Jesus knew that His Father was only good. The goodness of God as Father was known by Jesus and the early Church as God to be only Good. You can read the subject below that will give you some Idea what God and His nature is!
Blessings, Pastor Anthony den Hartog.

I don't know. If it's not something said in the bible, it becomes suspect to me. I always wondered where this phrase came from.
To say "God is a good God" presupposes that there are other gods. But, we know that we can exalt many things in our lives to god status, such as money or cars or houses.
I'm not sure what type of flack he got for saying it. I don't quite mind it, but I don't think I've ever said it. I've always said "God is good" which has always been enough for me.

In a perfect world people would have praised him for having the courage to state how he felt, in this one however, that is a luxury none of us may have. I do not think he should have gotten flack for it, for even if we may disagree in practice, the principles are the same and anyone who can show others to be kind is good indeed.

The bible records Jesus as saying "No one is good—except God alone." So I dont think Oral Roberts deserved derision for believing in Jesus.
Jesus also said, "Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me."

No one should ever receive flack for saying that God is good. Look around at the beauty in the land all around you, God is definitely good.

The first difficulty is who is to judge? If we judge God, then we are better/wiser/holier than God.
So, the only judge of God has to be God. The Bible is basically a message that God says God is good. Sin / guilt makes us fear God as BAD. Jesus came as one more attempt to convince us God is Good.

If you believe there is not God, then why are you worried about Oral Roberts or anyone else that believes or believed in God?

Oral Roberts is a multimillionaire televangelist. He believes in that seed faith giving, a lot of the other multimillionaire televangelists preach.
It also made them very rich indeed.

Didn't John Lennon say that the Beatles were more popular than Jesus? Do you think he deserved the flack he received? I don't.
