A daughters mother or mother in laws have always objected to their daughters husbands as not being good enough for their little girls. There are always exceptions to everything so not all mils hate their son in laws. Time does not change this either as I know my mil is the president of the nightmare mils of the world and probably actually wrote the very handbook that all mils swear by. She has been a pain in my a.s for 27 years and now resides with us after 2 severe strokes. And believe me there hasnt been a day that hasnt gone by in those 27 years that I havent prayed for something evil and nasty happen to her and my wife knows it too. I could spend til the end of time explaining the horror stories Ive been thru with my mil, but til Mother Nature or God lets them trust their daughters decision fully and butts out of their marriages, son in laws will never get along with mother in laws. There should have been a commandment covering this but I guess they didnt have marriages back then. Also Ive made a vow to outlast my mil if its the last thing I do. Good luck

My mother in law hates me. The nice thing is that she does not much care for the wife either. We live in different states and this works well for all of us. Most mothers hate me, I wonder about my mother. If you think you get along great with your in-laws, try this. Piss off your hubby real good and see what happens.

Because the mother in law has all the BAD points of the wife without any of the good ones.

It's because of an invisable power struggle. The man or husband automatically thinks that his wife will side with her mother, especially if there are children from the marriage.
My ex husband was a bit bossy and always thought his way was the right way. He knew nothing, or very little and I only found this out as we had children. Let's just say his logic was illogical!

My husband gets along great with my mother - but she is very easy going and an over all laid back person for the most part. I think it's a lot harder for me to get along with his mother because she is a more in your face, nosey type of person, not to mention her way of doing things is very different from how I was brought up.

You are a Mother/Father in-laws answered prayer. Usually it is the woman who can not stand her Mother-in-law. I firmly believe if you could take a survey, it is the woman who has the problem, not the man. Your in-laws are LUCKY !!

Because most mother's-in-law are not very nice to their daughter's husband. That is their little girl and sometimes they cant let go. It's a protection kind of thing.

I guess because they always have a feeling that the mother-in-laws have a different perspective about them. The guys are different rather than the girls.
