I'd rather see it as a celebration! When you reach mid-life, and not all of us do due to other factors that may have intervened - however, I view it as time for you. Your children are grown up, you have some savings, normally, you'd have some type of security. I think mid-life is about capitalizing on your experience in life and having some fun with it. Crisis? who mentioned this? LOL
Next year I'm buying a convertible Saab!

In your childhood you cling to dreams.
As you reach your mid-20's you think you're well on your way to achieving your goals (which were your dreams shrunk down to reality).
In your mid-30's you realise you aren't any closer to your dreams and goals, you've been sidetracked with work, kids, bills and a partner that complains about things you don't have time to think about.
Then your friends start passing away, losing their jobs or getting their homes repossessed and you realise they could be you.
That's when mid-life crisis hits and you want to do everything you can and want to do before it's your turn to go.

Lots of things can cause a midlife crisis. A change can happen in your life like death, birth, change in job or unemployment, divorce ect. It can be that old saying I'm this old and what have I done with my life? Lots of things. Depends totally on the person having it.

The idea that one's life is nearly over and a man feels he's not where he wanted to be in life as he once wanted. Women get this at about 30. I have seen it time and time again. Women who are married want divorce, women who aren't married want marriage and children.
The theory is that women realize what they want from life sooner. Men usually take a little longer to get in touch with their emotions enough to realize they aren't happy.

It could be that people realize they are getting older and will be facing death so they might feel that they have to hurry and do it all, live it up, and do it now before it is too late. Some things they do will boost their ego at least on the short term.

mid-life! lol ;)
Actually, it's around the time you realize you've probably lived half your life, but it went by really fast and you haven't yet realized your dreams. You feel like you're running out of time.

It's kinda like Man-o-pause, linked with the knowledge that we are getting older, and less attractive. Maybe our woman isn't as pretty as she once was, and men see it as a last chance to try to nail a pretty younger woman.
Oh God..........No.......I don't want to EVER go there!
