i posted before asking why a demon would pose as a spirit as i see this response everytime spirit communication is mentioned ..
why would they pass a message of love .. give hope ... speak of an afterlife .. bring people closer to god .. what would be the purpose of this ? what would a demon or satan get out of bringing people closer to god ?
i am curious to everyones thoughts on this as i havent recieved a good answer for this one yet

This is the way the Catholic Church decided to handle people who were receiving divine revelation, many years ago.
It wanted people to be restricted to the nonsense that was put in the bible by the church. The judgmental punishing God was a very powerful control mechanism and they did not want people who were receiving messages from the unconditionally loving Real God to spread the truth they were receiving. So they came up with the idea that anything that came from any source other than the bible was the work of demons.
This was a powerful deterrent because at different times they went around killing people under the pretence that they were consorting with demons. Naturally this kept people who were receiving these revelations from telling anyone. This idea was then expanded to anything that was of a spiritual nature. This is where the idea originated.
As the different protestant sects Split with the church and branched off from each other they held on to this idea and it is still prevalent today. The idea that God cared enough to talk to every other goat herder and shepherd in the old days but has no interest in talking to any one now is simple nonsense created by this idea you are speaking of.
To assume that demons would ask us to be loving and take care of our fellow man is absurd. Yet this is the exact message that people who get these types of messages always report getting. In many ways the bible is more a vehicle for separating people and stirring up hate.
Love and blessings

My family was involved in spiritualism. At 7 years old I had a nervous condition that was treated with barbiturates and involved a 3 month stay in hospital. I received distant healing (without my or immediate families knowledge). I was healed but then had an invisible friend, also telepathy, precognition, and an increasing obsession with UFO,s ESP, Folk Lore & Occult. By age 21 I was in fear of my sanity. I would have beem diagnosed as psychotic and schizophrenic. Fortunately I was exorcised and have been fine ever since.
Is it any wonder that I have a "downer" on spiritualism? The person who healed me was Harry Edwards, a man considerably respected in Spiritualist circles.
My point is, mediums do not know who or what they are truly in communication with. Nor do they have any control over these beings or protection from them. If they appear to have some kind of control, it is because the beings choose to make them think it to lull rhem into a false sense of confidence. It is a game to them, and mediums are their pawns.
The demon I had is colloquially called a whisperer. Their power seems limited to hearing thoughts and puttig thoughts, images and ideas in a person's mind. However, they can nag and nag until the person obeys them, and they can inflict something called Telepathic Static, which is like being in the middle of a party, where you can hear every voice in the room. when you are trying to sleep

Hi Pangel, I am of the same view as Don H, there is absolutely no reason why a demoniac entity would pose as a spirit giving so much positive direction and favourable encouragement, which is something that is rare to find within this forum in comparison.
It is most unfortunate that so many group responses reflect such a blinkered view toward genuine spiritualists such as yourself. As the fundamentalist's ideology is not based on spiritual advancement and realisation, rather it is based on black & white indoctrination and mental conditioning that produces a "robot like" pack response, about a subjectivity that is unknown to the paradymn of the mundane religionist.
I don't think you are ever going to change this pattern of response behavoir, I hope that it does not deter you from posting your realisations and experiences on this site, as I for one am very appreciative of the views and good sense that the psychic/spiritualist sector bring to this forum.

If a person communicates with an evil spirit. Can that communication be anything but evil?
1co 5:5 To deliver such an one unto SATAN for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.
Jesus has all power in heaven and earth, all power. Even the abase men and women who claim to be our leaders are doing what is designed. Those that deny him as creator and God are fulfilling his word. The end most come.

You did not mention the terms of this communication. Was it in a dream? A spirit presents itself to you? Someone claims to be in contact with some spirit beyond? Context is very important.
However - you asked why would an evil spirit pass on seemingly good information of hope, afterlife and so on. (again I am working here without you presenting a context)
Lets use an analogy. Lets say you are one horrid person (hopefully you are not) and you live to screw people over and laugh your head off for every sucker you find.
You find an old house you know will crash down despite its sound appearance. What are you going to tell people to convince someone to move into it? Remember - in this hypothetical situation you are pure evil...
So would you tell them...,
[a] I hate you! I want you dead! This house will crush and kill you at some point after you move in. BUY IT and move in now!!!
[b] I think you are swell people. I foresee a wonderful life for you and your family here. The bedrooms are roomy, the living room has a wonderful cozy old world atmosphere, really easy going ...
An evil person would lay it on thick! Human conmen know how to take people almost at will! They are not successful conmen because they tell the truth - they manipulate reality.
Hopefully that helps you understand at least a little bit better.

I am curious about this topic, too. As of late I have been thinking, as a Christian, I believe in God. I believe in angels and in demons (counterparts). The Bible mentions evil spirits, and also the Holy Spirit. But we don't (generally) hear about good spirits. A lot of people assume that spirits are only in reference to people who have died. Thus when they hear about communicating with spirits, they tend to think "oh, they are trying to contact dead people" (which may be a part of it). My thoughts are...because there is a distinguishment between demons and evil spirits, and because (according to modern Christianity) when a person dies their spirit does not roam the earth but instead goes to heaven (or into God's presence) or to Hell...evil spirits must be a created being, not a leftover part of evil people. It would then follow that if evil spirits were created, there could be good spirits that have been created as well. An example: the pastor of a church I went to growing up had lost his wife. She died and he was having a hard time. She wound up coming to him and talked with him for about 45 minutes, and encouraged him that he needs to move on with his life, that she is okay. He was able to regain his composure, get back into his life, and serve God through his pastorship. What was it that happened to him? Was he just imagining that he talked with her? Did some "evil spirit" come to deceive him into getting over her death (cause it was obviously God's will that he become ineffective, right?) and serving God again? Or could it be that just maybe her spirit was permitted to return to him to console him and let him know that everything was okay and that he needs to move on? Or (and this could be stretching it, but it crossed my mind) could it be that a spirit is like a doppleganger? Once a person dies, they leave this realm. A doppleganger spirit can cross between the physical and spiritual realms and be a messenger between the spirits of those who have passed on and those who remain on earth. I just don't know...

I would love to be able to communicate with the dead - I have so many unanswered questions through recent and older bereavements.
I believe wholeheartedly in an afterlife and have such faith in anyone who claims to be able to communicate with spirit that they could tell me anything and I'd believe it - this is where I think your demonic spirit question can be answered - there are those on this earth who have no real power, but see an opportunity in people such as myself - the hurt and bereaved, and take advantage. Rather than give people true readings (because they can't) they give out false communications with 'demons' and so on.
You will always have false prophets in any religion / belief, just as you will always have those gullible enough to believe them.

Never forget that the devil (and his demons) can appear as "an angel of light" (2nd Corinthians 11:14). Why would a demon pose as the spirit of a deceased loved one? Simply to draw you away from Jesus Christ--the only authority we have for the afterlife. Jesus clearly taught that once a person leaves this world they are forever in heaven or hell, and they cannot leave (see Luke 16:19-31). A demon can speak of an afterlife, but what he speaks is a lie, or at best a half truth. Jesus called the devil "the father of lies." Jesus went on to say there is NO truth in the devil (see John 8:44). Rarely, if ever, have I listened to a story of how a person encountered a spirit of a deceased loved one, and then hear that the spirit told the person about Christ crucified and His resurrection as the way of salvation (John 14:6). Any message of love and hope without mentioning the cross--the ultimate symbol of God's love for us, and the resurrection--the ultimate symbol of hope for all who follow Christ, is a message that is actually totally void of love and hope because the message is based off a lie.
There are many people who have lost loved ones and who would desperately like to be able to talk with them again or receive messages from them. This desire is understandable, but contacting the dead is not permitted by God according to the Bible. The attempt is a sin against God and results in either deception or involvement with demonic entities impersonating the dead.
I urge you, as strongly as I know how, not to dabble or get involved in anything to do with occult practices, including this one. At best, they are deceptive and fraudulent; at worst, they can involve you in matters which are satanic in origin.
"The Bible is very clear that such things are false and will only lead you away from God and His truth. In the Old Testament God commanded, 'Let no one be found among you ... who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord' (Deuteronomy 18:10-12).
"The Bible urges us to turn in faith to Christ and to seek the truth He has given us in the Bible. God's Word alone gives us spiritual truth; any other path will lead us astray. Occult practices will never tell us with finality what is beyond the grave, but because of His resurrection we can know from Christ everything we need to know."
It is critically important for anyone who has been involved in this or any other occult practice to confess it to God as a sin, renounce the practice, and turn to Jesus Christ for His forgiveness, cleansing and protection. Consultation with a Gospel-preaching pastor may be wise. A book such as "The Bondage Breaker" by Neil Anderson has been helpful to many. It would be available through a Christian bookstore.

You are being deceived. God tells us not to talk to the spirits. You are disregarding God's law. Everything you are being told, no matter how nice it may be, is leading you away from God. Atleast now you know that these things exist, you should stop talking to them and pray God to forgive you for it.
And of course they give hope of an afterlife, so you will believe you can do whatever you want, and still goto a heaven.
Of course they speak highly of Jesus, now let go and follow Jesus. Ask them if you should obey the 10 commandments and submit your life fully to God, and see what they say.

I would be skeptical of any spirit who is still hanging around Earth. Were they not allowed to get into heaven? Are they stuck here until they earn their way in with good deeds? Are they rebellious souls who would rather stay on Earth and cause mischief in peoples' lives? There's no way for me to know for sure, so I stay as far away from the whole spirit contacting thing as possible. I'd rather play it safe and let them contact me cuz I don't believe they can make direct contact with us without invitation or permission. Like they say, be careful what you wish for.
Peace.
