I am 14, and my parents smoke in the house. I get the smell of it in my backpack and my binders, and it's really annoying. I have the binders that zip up, so if I use febreze on my backpack and the outside of my binders, the smell goes away UNTIL I open the binders up, and then it's really noticable. Does anyone know of any way to get the smell out of this and out of my jackets, coats, shirts, etc. (And I've asked them before to quit, didn't work).

Been there, done that. Ask them if they would only smoke outside or in the garage. Beg them. It's disgusting. Probably have to re-paint the house every couple of years, scrub the walls first. I sympathize with you.

there's really no way to rid yourself of the stink--unless when you go home, you bring your backpack/coat to a room that is closed off=where people don't smoke and only open the books in "safe" rooms--it just gets so complicated.. if they are unable to quit, then maybe they would go outside to smoke. practically impossible to elude the smell-good luck with this-and remember how bad it smells when you think you're old enough to light up!! =)
p.s. vinegar will absorb odor in air, but unfortunately will not eliminate it from your clothes, hair, books-the folks gotta go outside so you can breathe!!!

Stab them repeatedly, then tell the cops they had cancer and their lungs exploded. J/K

Tell your parents to smoke outside, because kids at school are picking on you. If they care, they will, if they don't, well, then they fit the profile of smokers.

You have my sympathy and concern. If you put a small bowl of vinegar (no water) in each room, it will take away the odor.

Quit while you can, someday you will think back at this reply and wish that you had quit, before you developed lung cancer or worse, were caught by your parents.
