I tried downloading 2 screensavers the other day but they didn't work and now I can't delete them, it says that these files are already in use. I scanned these files with mcafee and it says they aren't infected. What should I do? How can I find a way to delete them?

I'm not using these screensavers, and I already tried restarting and then deleting but it didn't work.

Get this free program call Unlocker. I downloaded it a few months ago and have actually used it a few times for reasons similar to yours. It's basically made for that reason. It's great. Once installed it will show up when you right-click on the file in question.

You can get it here: http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Miscellaneous/Unlocker.shtml

Or just search for it in a search engine

Yeah the man before me is right!
But if that doesn't help and you already installed them,
1. Go to Start
2. Click on Control Panel once.
3. Then find where it says Add or Remove Programs and click on it twice.
4. There will be a list of all your programs.
5. Find there the name of your screensaver and click "Change/Remove" Then follow the steps to finish the setup.
6. Restart your computer.

If that way doesn't help
Use the backup.
You can find it by following this steps
1. Click on Start.
2. Go to all programs
3. Go to accessories
4. System tools
5. Backup and click on it.

Then follow the steps. That will help for sure.
But by doing this you can remove programs that you have now and didn't have on that date when you're doing the backup.

I'm sorry If I didn't useful!

Are you sure that you're the administrator of your computer? If not, ask your administrator to make you administrator so you can delete the programs. My dad set my computer in a way that I'm not even allowed to touch anything in Program Files. If you want to download the program again, put it in My Documents.

look to see if its a active x thats installed that wont allow it to be deleted, just go to internet properties go to settings, view objects, and under program file look to see if any of the active x controls have been put there by that program, just right click and click properties for each object to see if anyone of them have been put there by that program, if you find it just delete it and then you may be able to delete the screensaver.if that dont work you could try disabling the startup programs,to do that click start,go to run type msconfig click ok and click start up and look to see if that program is one of the startup programs if it is just check the box and click apply.

Change your screensaver to something else, then delete them.

Try rebooting in safe mode then delete or try and stop them in your task manager.

I used a program named unlocker once to delete an undeletable file. You can download it here.

click on all programs, click on control panel, click on add/remove files, when they pop up look for the name(s) of what you downloaded and click on them then click Remove. Should do the trick.
