my bro is a complete jerk. he pushes me around and says all kinds of mean stuff. in the past we bickered, and it was all petty stuff, typical sibling rivalry, but now it's escalating and i can't stand it. i can't go to my parents cause they still think it's just petty fights. i'm almost afraid to be around him. ignoring him doesn't work at all. i don't want it to get too far, i know he'll leave bruises eventually. but the most annoying thing is, is that he only is a jerk when my parents aren't around, when they are around, he does little things to piss me off and then gets me in trouble with my parents. (like i said, no matter what i do ignoring doesn't work) how do i deal with all this? please help, i'm going insane!

also, just fyi, he's really smart and so much stronger than me. i hit him back, he hits me 10 times harder. i can make little remarks that piss him off big time, but then he just slaps me in the arm or something, i'm tired of him.

me and my brother had the same problem, and yeah i understand it's hard to ignore him because it absolutely doesnt work! =] but what else are brother's for? they're just stupid pests that never listens. but anyways, what you can do is get back at him, dont be afraid of him because that'll only let him know that he has power over you and he's able to do anything he wants to you. but if you aren't going to get revenge on him andplay little pranks on him, then the best thing to do isn't to ignore him, but to avoid him as much as possible.

I feel for you - I had the same problem with my older brother.

Because of how mean he was to me when we were growing up (he once hung me by my neck from the swingset - blew up chemicals in my face - locked me in the garage for five hours, etc) - we are still not close as adults.

The best thing you can do is wait until your parents are around, and then carry on like your brother really hurt you bad when they weren't looking. I mean really commit to the performance. See what they do. If that doesn't get their attention write them a letter basically telling them everything that you have just written above, and ask them to handle the situation. I mean - they are your parents - they should have to handle it. They are supposed to protect you from harm.

The other thing is to tell your brother in a calm manner that you will remember all these things he is doing to you when you are an adult and that one day - you will no longer be a little kid - and will handle it.

My little brother finally did that with my older brother - Christmas Day of 1989 - he had had enough of my big brother's crap and he wrestled him to the ground outside and held him down until he apologized. It was great!!!!!!!!!! He left him alone after that.

Is he much older than you? He is going through some weird changes were he is losing respect for women. You should sit with your parents and him and seriously talk about this problem. No jokes just tell your family how it is bothering you. You must be serious and not brush it off if it having an effect on you.

start martial arts sounds crazy but it it would teach you to control yourself and how to put your brother on his sorry little backside. you should not be afraid of family so you need something to give you a boost so you no how to handle him. if he goes to bruise you hit him back show you arent afraid put him on his *** cos when you cower away you become an easy target stand up for yourself make small comments that would piss him off play him at his own game

Dude, I feel for you. I went through the same thing growing up. I really have no advice for you but to say that you are not the only one who has gone through something like this.
