I read that it was the guy that introduced Bruce Lee into grappling. I read they became friends on the Green Hornet show. Supposedly, that guy got Steven Seagal in a choke

Steven Seagull is mainly an Aikido martial artist. I personally dont like him and he was very rough to the stuntmen during the making of his films. There are other rumours to this story... but the one I say below I believe is more accurate!!!

Here is the Story.... (isnt 100% accurate, but as close as can be as it comes from the top of my head!!!) I am sure there are some sites with a more accurate, detailed story!!!

Stevel Seagal was bragging how 'good' he was to a bunch of stunt performers. On a film set he start talking about how he can like "channel" his mind somewhere else so he wouldnt tap out to a choke.

One of the stunt men.... "Judo" Gene LeBell who is a fantastic grappler (and trained by some well respected fighters) stepped forward and said "Lets put it to the test!".

He put the choke on Seagall.... and he tapped 'instantly'.

Seagall shouted "I wasnt ready! Do it again!"

So Gene put the hold on him again... then Seagall tried to grab his balls. Gene sprawled out and applied the choke on fully. Seagall 'fell asleep' instantly... and wee'd himself as he fell to the floor!!

Steven Seagall may be a 'decent' grappler... but he is a big head. You cannot channel your mind away from a choke. A choke blokes your air supply... so it doesnt matter what technique you try, if you dont get air to the brain... you will pass out, or even die!!!

The best way to stop yourself getting choked out is to have strong neck muscles.... and I mean STRONG!!.

One old timer wrestler named "Farmer" Burns had a 20 inch neck!!! and he would test the strength on his neck by letting anyone choke him.... AND HE NEVER TAPPED OUT!!!

He also use to do a 6-foot hang mans drop... and singing "yankee doodle dandy" during the process!!!

Also... Gene was good friends with Bruce Lee... and often discussed with each other over their Martial Arts skills.

All the best

I think it was Gene LaBelle. Rumor has it that Steven got choked out by him.

I believe you're talking about Gene Lebell. That old man can really tear people up, I wouldn't even get in cage with him! He also wear pink gi often, I wouldn't even dare to comment on that in front of him.

Yes, he got punched out by a former member of the Hells Angels. His name escapes me but he was also on the HBO television series OZ.
