There are a few geographical refrences that are valid... cities mentioned, and such. However, the bible has very little historical value. Most of the events mentioned are pseudo-history. There is absolutely NO archeological evidence to suggest that Jesus actually existed. No writings. No artifacts. The only non-biblical written references (Josephus, Tacitus) are first of all, hearsay, and secondly, highly dubious hearsay, at that. At least part of the references in Josephus is an obvious forgery, added much later by a Christian scribe.
I see many answers here where Christians... even Christian 'preachers'... incorrectly state that the Gospels were written by apostles of Jesus, who actually witnessed the events. That is absolutely false. The First gospel to be written was Mark, near the beginning of the 2nd century. Matthew and Luke were written a few decades later, using Mark as a template, and then creating fictional scenes in which they put words into the mouth of Jesus... words that came from the "Q-document", a Judaized list of sayings from the Greek Stoic and Cynic philosophies. None of the 1st century writings refer to Jesus as an actual historical person from the recent past... they present onky a 'spiritual' Jesus, who was the product of revelation during midrashic modernization of OT scriptutes, under inspiration from the 'Holy spirit'... an emanation from the godhead, similar to the Greek 'Logos'.
Modern biblical scholarship makes a very compelling case for the idea that Jesus never existed... that he was, in fact, entirely fictional.

Yes, there are historical records stating that Jesus actually existed outside the biblical references. He was after all at a formal Roman trial, and he was labeled by them as a rebel leader of the Jews--even though he preached peace.

There is overwhelming evidence for the existence of Jesus Christ, both in secular and biblical history. Perhaps the greatest evidence that Jesus did exist is the fact that literally thousands of Christians in the first century A.D., including the twelve apostles, were willing to give their lives as martyrs for Jesus Christ. People will die for what they believe to be true, but no one will die for what they know to be a lie.

If you are looking for a stone somewhere or the actual cross - no you won't find it. Only through faith in the unknown will you find Jesus.
Do you question if gravity exsists? No, you drop a book and watch it fall. It's observed. Same with God. What you choose to do with that is up to you.
