Break ups are definitly rough. One thing for sure not to do is to try and rush into a new relationshp. Give yourself time to heal. Keep yourself occupied with friends and family. Eventually you'll think of him less and less. Someday you'll meet someone amazing and you'll realize that this ex was just another stepping stone to the one your truly meant to be with.

i am going through a very similar thing right now. My 8 year relationship is over and she left me to "find herself". That was 5 weeks ago and i am even now starting to see more good out of this than bad. Its terribly hard to believe but it does get easier. I ended all communication with her (at least for now) and just began concentrating on myself. Believe you are a great person and regardless of whether or not it is meant to be with this person or not, love will find a way. You will find happiness and you will find someone who loves and cares for you in a way that you may never have felt before. Good luck and i know things will work out for you.

My old response would have been to keep busy, and to surround yourself with friends. I have a new response now, though.
Take some time alone and deal with your feelings. Find a creative way to work through them...if you're into art, use your emotion to create something. If you're a writer, indulge yourself in some sad, sappy poetry. You can sing, dance, exercise....whatever it is that you like. Do whatever it is as a means of catharsis...and dont be afraid of being sad. its normal, and you need to let yourself grieve for what is gone.
There are lots of people around you who care, talk to some of them.

I had a recent breakup and we were together for about 1 year or so. what i did was, i got a vacation, the beach. i had a vacation to just relax and get a load off my mind , i didnt know anybody, and nobody bothered me. i stayed there for like just 5 days though. but it still helped.

Try to keep yourself ocuppied over the next few weeks. Try not to be alone for too long, cause when your alone or when your bored you'll start thinking about them. Eventually, as time passes you'll soon forget. PS: Hide any photo's or things that remind you of them!
