Why is there not one Christian religion?

All of them seem to disagree on so much. If all of us believe in Jesus then why do we disagree so much? This makes no sense.

does it really matter how many their are? pick the one you agree with and don't argue with the others.
if you go to enough different churches you will find several that you don't agree with, but there are some out there that you do agree with, and that is why there are so many, it is like asking why everybody don't just eat chicken.

Practially everyone here is wrong. There are so many Christian faiths more many reasons. Most notably, because of the Great Schism and the Protestant Reformation. Christianity when it first was founded by Jesus Christ, is what is now Roman Catholicism. The Great Schism of 1057 A.D. was a split in the Roman Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox churches of today were formed, and practicd in the Byzantine Empire and up into Russia. The Protestant Reformation began when people like Martin Luther and John Calvin had other ideas about how the Bible should be interperted and how one should live their faith, new Christian faiths emerged. Martin Luther created Lutheranism, with the idea of salvation by faith alone. John Calvin created Calvinism, with the idea of predestination, or the idea that God chooses who is granted eternal salvation before anyone is even born. Out of these Reformation faiths, other Christian sects emerged ,such as Methodists, Baptists, Epospicalian, Weselyan, Quaker, etc... So therefore, the one true, original Christian faith, founded by Jesus Christ himself, is Roman Catholicism.

Over time, modernization takes its effect and people decide it is time to change along with the times. The hard core old fashion Christians refused to change there interpretations or rituals or practices just because of recent discoveries or changing of the times. As more and more people became educated, they decided that the older forms of Christianity were too strict or cruel.

The Old Testament for example. Someone thought it was too cruel and that God couldn't be that wrathful, therefore they created what we now call Christianity, a diversion for the older 'God', one more acceptable and pleasurable. Not to mention you no longer had to be Jewish in order to go to heaven. There are always people that disagree on one or more aspect of the bible or belief so they divide in practice and soon you have ten thousands different sects with different beliefs.

Ever notice how religion has become less and less exact in their rules and more lenient? Who wants to be unclean on their period or who doesn't want to be stuck at home on a Sunday? People bend the rules of the bible so that it suits their wants.

Baptist are mostly composed of blacks that like to sing gospel songs, barely read from the bible, and make church more of a celebration for their entertainment than worship of God. Catholics are more old-schooled and don't like those that are more worldly, indulging in too much pleasure and things considered ungodly like sex, divorce, birth control, and some new technology.

There is one Christian religion. Think for a moment: Jesus Christ, the Nazarene, taught his followers who, according to Acts 11:26, were called Christians by divine providence. Therefore, it was Jesus himself who founded Christianity.

Is it reasonable to believe he introduced different forms of Christianity which would, from the beginning, contradict each other? How could that be? That would mean he himself was not in harmony with the truth! And yet he teaches us at John 17:17 that [God's] word is truth. It therefore reasonably follows that a religion that is truly Christian would truly be in harmony with God's word, yes?

So, there IS one Christian religion but many counterfeits. However, this should not surprise us, given the powerful illustration of Jesus recorded for us at Matthew 13:24-43. Christ plainly foretold what we now see. And he plainly taught us how to identify true Christians.

Right from the very beginning of christianity, when the new testament wasn't born yet, there were already people who taught things contradicting the teachings of the one true church. Most people today don't realize this because they limit their reading to the Bible. However, the early Church Fathers, who lived from 100 AD to 400 AD, left us writings of the church's struggle against various heretical teachings(Arianism, Donatism, Docetism, Montanism, etc.). In the 14th Century, Luther separated from the Church and formed his own, giving birth to Protestantism, which hold the doctrine of Private Interpretation of scripture resulting to varying interpretations from different individuals. This naturally resulted to people, believing their interperetation as THE truth, founding their own denominations.

It makes no sense because the whole of Christianity is just that... Nonsense. Since everything in the christian faith (and all religion for that matter) is based on speculation instead of fact it's very easy to make your own interpretation. If enough people believe your brand is right... you've got yourself a sect.

It's all imaginary, none of them are right... it's just silly.

Maybe not the only reason; but since man is a god (Gen. 3, albeit a false god)), there are test(s) for man to determine his desire to serve God. Growth may be part of difference between various 'groups' of Christianity. After all, even Apollos did not 'know it all' had was taught things by Aquila and Priscilla (Acts 18).

Humanity is a fractured people, who don't all see things the same way. Christianity is such a large religion, that it's inevitable that you're going to get segmentation within it over interpretational differences.

Not Christian religion but denominations. It is all in the interpretation of the Bible. The Bible is a vague book that is subject to any kind of interpretation. If you don't like how it is interpreted then start your own. It is also used to make money because that is all it boils down to.

The operative word here is "religion". Mankind has struggled with trying to know God, but instead of just believing in God's word, they have dissected it and began to use portions of it to start their own belief system, religion. God didn't give us religion, men did.
When men put their hands to the things of God in order to declare they know God, it becomes a religion and it is divisive. they argue over the baptism, the fact is that it is about the baptism of faith, not water. When you are baptized by the Holy Spirit, it means you have truly repented and accepted the sovereign Lord. This along with a myriad of other ridiculous semantics have given rise to all these "religions". The Lord came to give us life and to give it more abundantly. He didn't come to give us religion and to give it more abundantly. ALL RELIGIONS ARE WRONG AND ONLY CHRIST IS RIGHT, CHRIST IS LIFE NOT RELIGION.

Because religion is run by the spirit of religion. It Allows man/woman to believe that he can invent ways that will please God. God sent prophets, messengers--proclaiming His way, truth and life. When that teacher came--He established a fail-safe plan--spelled out in the Book of Acts. On the Isle of Patmos, John prophetically showed us different types of churches--all except two types pleased God. It came to pass.
