The only thing you have to worry about with having a cat is toxoplasmosis which, can be harmful to the baby and can be in the cat's poop... you can actually have tests done to see if you're immune. A lot of people get toxoplasmosis at some point in their life and just don't realize it because it just acts like an everyday cold. Even if you're not immune, though, all you have to do is find somebody else to change the litterbox... or at least be really careful when you do, like wear gloves or at least wash your hands thoroughly after changing the litterbox....

no it isn't true it is just a old wives tale which means it isn't true, the only thing u need to worry about having a inside cat ,is does Ur cat have all it's shots and u are not supposed to mess w/the dirty cat litter because if Ur cat doesn't have all of it's shots some cats carry bacteria that can be potentially harmful to the UN-born fetus , how ever take Ur cat to vet there are tests that they can run to see if Ur cat is a carrier to any of the bacteria or virus that can be passed to the baby,

They carry toxoplasmosis so pregnant women are not suppose to be near or not change the litter boxes. Also cats have a tendency once the baby is born to lick the baby's mouth due to the smell of milk and that makes it hard for the baby to breath.

just dont clean the litter box...i know someone who did this and her son is mentally and physically challanged. if at all possible have someone else change the litter box for you. also after you had the baby be careful the cat doesnt get into the baby's room cuz it will try to lick the milk off the baby's mouth(and i know this from experience) and make sure that the cat cant reach the baby bottles as well because they will chew the nipple to get to the milk!!! hope that helps you!!!!

There's an old wives tale that cats will sit on the baby's face and suffocate him. Is that what you mean? Of course is not true, otherwise you'd be reading about it in the newspapers and there would be all kinds of warnings.

Cats and sheep carry a disease called Toxoplasmosis and you should not contract it while pregnant as it can cause you to either miscarry or have a disabled child.
Have your cat wormed by the vet. Wash your hands after touching it. Use rubber gloves when cleaning out the cat litter tray.

Old Wives Tale. Very few women catch Toxoplasmosis during pregnancy. Here is a very helpful link about it.

Don't change the litterbox or you could harm the baby. I believe someone else has already mentioned toxoplasmosis as the risk to your baby. Otherwise, it's fine to have a cat as a pet while pregnant.

ok...my checklist mentioned you're to no longer "cope with" cats in any respect with the aid of ailment you will get style the muddle.....This made me very unhappy because of the fact I even have 2 cats whom i admire extraordinarily much like toddlers...I mean I heavily cried. So i desperate to call the vet....the vet tech I talked to became 8 months pregnant...and had worked there the entire time. She mentioned you merely shouldn't substitute the muddle and dodge their ft because of the fact the ft carry the germs. So besides, that's what she mentioned.
