I think you are talking about already shelled crabmeat in a container or can, right?? There really is no "good" way. Just get your hands in there and pick through the meat for any shells that might have been missed in processing. Nothing worse than biting into a crabcake with a little bit 'o shell.

First ,I agree with wood butcher on the reversal thing...Secondly do not over cook them ... Thirdly, get yourself a set of lobster forks, they are like miniature forks and work wonders.

If you mean crab legs, then scissors work the best. Also, have a damp washcloth to help break open the legs.
