A Jew told me YHWH translates into I am.

When Moses asks, in response to the calling of God, "Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, 'The God of your fathers has sent me to you,' and they ask me, 'What is his name?' Then what shall I tell them?" He is first given a description and told to tell the sons of Israel that "I AM the One I AM" אהיה אשר אהיה, or "I AM whatever I need to become".

What is the name of God according to the bible, and what did Jesus call Him?

Isn't that two questions? The answer to the first is, no God does not have a birth certificate, because He was not born, ergo, no birth.
Jesus IS God, because He is God's Word. He actually wouldn't have one either, except that it was written in the books for census purposes.

In answer to the second question, The Jewish person is correct, His name is pronounced Yahweh. (J was invented only 500 years ago).
Jesus' name would actually be Elohim, it means God with us, or Yoshua, it means God saves.

I found something about YHWH, if you line the Jewish form of these letters from top to bottom, you will see a stick drawing or blueprint for Man. Try it. Maybe that is what was actually meant by man in His own image. Then again, I've always thought that just as God is God Almighty, and God is His Word too, and God is also his Spirit, That's why Man is Man, Man is also his word, and Man is also his spirit too, all the same Man, just like all the same with God.

For your title question, no. Since God is eternally existent and self-sufficent, there was never a point where he was "born", contraryu to what Mormons believe.

Please remember that the Jewish Torah is the Old Testiment of the Bible, so the names are the same in that respect.

Jesus called him Father.

Jesus also referred to himself as "I AM" during his trial..

Jesus mostly referred to himself as Son of Man, a reference to the prophet Isaiah..

There are other names as well mentioned throughout the Bible: Wonderful, Counciler, Very God of Very God, Lion of Juda, The Lamb of God, and so forth. Did I mention that the Bible is very heavy on the metaphor?

Of course YHWH means I am. If the Hebrew letters for YHWN are arranged vertically you get the outline of a man. Man created god, not god created man.

Jesus called him Father. Or sometimes "Abba", which is a more playful, childlike term, similar to "daddy".

God doesn't really need a name. His reply of "I am who am" was meant to be explanatory: he is the One who is the basis of all reality.
