Depends on its breed, St-Bernards like 25F, but chiwawa like 70F to 90F,, so it really depends of the kind it is

Come on, don't leave the dog outside while you are at work no matter what the weather. I don't understand why people get dogs only to leave them outside! Maybe if you take a day off work and just stay outside in the cold, you'll know what it's like. Why can't the dog be inside while you are at work? Please give this some serious thought. If you still feel like it's OK to do that, then find the dog a loving home with someone else. Makes me so sad to think of this.

I agree with leaving the dog in your house while you are away. Most dogs if trained properly, will not mess with anything while you are gone. In my state, there was an incident where some owners had left their dog in a fenced back yard. To most, including me before this happened, this is the best place for them, however, while the police were chasing a suspect through peoples yards, they came upon this dog as they were coming over the fence, the dog growled and beared his teeth. (As any dog would do protecting his territory). The police shot the dog, and there were never any charges against the police. They stated the officer was in immediate danger. I say he shouldn't have been in climbing over strange fences! The whole story is, I would hate for that to happen to you or any dog lover, so it is better just to leave them indoors when you are gone, even if you have to confine them to one area of the house. They are much safer.

Why on earth would you want to leave the dog outside in the cold ??? Would you want to be left outside in the cold all day? Go to a doggy day care if for some reason you cannot let the dog in the house.

depending on the breed i would ask if it was too cold for you than it is probably too cold for your dog, either way if you insist on leaving your dog outdoors during the winter make sure the dog has a dog house or some form of shelter with the enterance away from the wind with plenty of fresh water and good food..hay is a good insulator from the cold

It really depends on what kind of dog you have, short haired dogs, and very small dogs do not handle cold well, if you need more than a light sweater to be outside, than its too cold for your dog, unless it's breed is accustomed to cold weather, to prepare, i would make sure that they can get in a garage, or some type of dog house with plenty of blankets to keep warm

If your dog is a long haired dog then I would say at the max 45 degrees. For short haired dogs, nothing less then 50 degrees. This also depends on the size of your dog but not as much as coat does. Hope this helps!

It really really depends on what kind of dog you have some dogs will die in a matter of hours, some love cold, and some will do okay but its up for you to deside.

Depends on the type of dog it is too, (meaning Huskies can stay out longer than other dogs) but, I would say anything below 48 degrees is too cold.

As long as it has a nice dry place / doghouse where it can get in out of the weather , it will be fine during the day..
Smaller & shorter haired dogs are more sensitive to the cold.
If you have an enclosed yard, you might consider a doggie door.

depends...basically, if you are too cold to stay outside, so is your dog....
some things to consider...does the dog have adequate shelter?...you can add straw to the dog house for extra warmth...I have known people to use electric blankets (if your dog won't chew on it)...some people have heated dog houses...
personally, I installed a dog door...that way, my dogs can go in and out as they please...and they also don't tear anything up while I am gone...
