There is sowing and reaping on this earth. If he truly repents, in heaven there will be no further punishment. There are true jail house confessions, but a lot of faked ones also, God knows the difference.

Dear Stephanie D: Repentence, honest remorse - both suffice. Serving time in jail, and repentence due to that, also works. "Sins" are but errors in thinking/ judgment. Jesus and the Holy Spirit work to correct error at the level at which it has been initiated : They work with the Mind.
God does not deal severely with any Child of His. Neither do Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Consequences exist, but they are designed to teach - that the person involved may go on to a higher, healthier way of thinking. There is consequence- in direct proportion to the error. Hence, some have more severe consequences than others. But death is NEVER met out by God, Jesus, nor the Holy Spirit. They want us to LEARN and go on to a higher level in our Journey. Humans punish with death - They do not !
Stephanie, I have removed my question about the "Course in Miracles" Q&A starting up within the Religion/Spirituality Category. This is because something went wrong and it was automatically thrown into voting a few hours later. I had not done that, myself. I was surprised and shocked to see it ! I could not seem to correct it.
I wanted you to know that If I see a question offered about it, I shall enter and answer it. I take a look at the "Forum" around 9:00AM each morning and, on and off throughout the day. I would hope to NOT miss your questions. The response to mine ended up mixed, APPROXIMATELY half and half.
I will be giving in-depth instruction on the "Course" eventually on a website called: asyehaveasked.com. Check now and then to see opening dates. I suspect toward the end of the year or just into the new year. You may wish to write this down and keep it as a reminder. This will be intense one-on-one question and answer with the Presence of Jesus at work. This is an anointed website. Truly. I wanted you to know about it for the future.

Even Hitler himself would be forgiven by the Lord if he had truly repented of his ways. The Lord said that when we repent, our sins are forgiven and they are forgotten as far as the east is from the west. It only counts if repentance is truely in the heart of the person. They're not just words.

If someone repents, they are forgiven. God does not necessarily take away the consequences of their actions. Many who come to Christ after an arrest still end up serving their sentences. Their slate with God is clean, however; as it is written: "For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward those that fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us." (Psalm 103:11-12)

Depends on the reason they are in jail for and your definition of a criminal. Christains have been put in jail for preaching the word of God. Other people for murder. God sometimes puts people in jail for a reason. Therefore only God knows the answer to your question. It doesn't matter where you are if you believe in God.

You can't be serious....
Let me ask you this...are you sure there is a God?
But for the sake of an arguement..let's say there is... Even the bible talks about how Jesus spent his time amongst the sinners for they needed salvation more so than the rightous.
A man in jail is paying the price for his crime.... should he pay for it for all eternity by exclusion?
Think and you will find the answer

1Co 6:9 Don’t you know that evil people will not receive God’s kingdom? Don’t be fooled. Those who commit sexual sins will not receive the kingdom. Neither will those who worship statues of gods or commit adultery. Neither will men who are prostitutes or who commit homosexual acts. 10 Neither will thieves or those who always want more and more. Neither will those who are often drunk or tell lies or cheat. People who live like that will not receive God’s kingdom. 11 Some of you used to do those things. But your sins were washed away. You were made holy. You were made right with God. All of that was done in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
Some of you used to do those things…

According to God, all sins are equal. In other words, when you told your math teacher your dog ate your homework and Hector killed his wife and kids, yall should be punished the same.
Humans are the ones that categorize the sins as greater or lesser than.
So, if we repent, we're all forgiven.

You will have to ask Him that. It will depend on if they have repented and tried to right the wrongs that they caused.
