Hi my son is 8 years old now and was diagnosed with ODD at 5 years? we have all worked hard to get him where he is today which in my opinion is a hell of a lot better from how he used to be.
However we have some clitches usually by the way other people react to him and when they do i need some support.

I find it difficult to deal with the 'your a bad parent looks' the irrate neighbours at my door. Does anyone stop to think what it is like for a parent of these kids? They just fire off all these statements - if he were my kid! he needs a good spanking! he needs this and that..... well let me tell you it does not work and the best thing is to deal with everything calmly. beleive you me, I know I have tried everything and I know what works. But people still like to tell you.

Sorry I am just ranting. see I need to talk to people that are in a similair situation..

so i would love to speak to people in the same situation or advice on support groups?

thanks for feedback.

I know you say your son has ODD, but a lot of kids with ADHD also have this.

My friend has 2 boys with ADHD and she gets similar reactions as you do when she is out shopping.

The best I could come up with is support groups for ADHD.

There will be a lot of parents there suffering with similar problems as you do.

I hope this helps. :-)

I have put a link in for the ADHD support groups.

You could ring up and ask if they know of any other groups for ODD if you don't want to go to the ADHD group.
