Why didn't Jesus return all Jews to Israel, establish peace, end paganism and idolatry? I'm not Jewish, but in Judaism, there is no concept of a messiah's second coming, so if Jesus didn't fulfill those prophecies, how was he the messiah?

His name also wasn't Immanuel. These are the only profecies a charlatan could not manipulate to make come true. His parents named him, and yours require large scale change rather than illusion.

That is the idea that the Jews have of a Messiah, that is what they were, and are, expecting, and that is why most still don't believe that Jesus Christ is the Messiah. The thing is this: Jesus didn't come as an earthly King when He came the first time. He came as a Savior. The problem was that they Jews WERE expecting a king. But what WAS Jesus Christ?
John 18:33-37 (NLT)
33Then Pilate went back inside and called for Jesus to be brought to him. "Are you the King of the Jews?" he asked him.
34Jesus replied, "Is this your own question, or did others tell you about me?"
35"Am I a Jew?" Pilate asked. "Your own people and their leading priests brought you here. Why? What have you done?"
36Then Jesus answered, "I am not an earthly king. If I were, my followers would have fought when I was arrested by the Jewish leaders. But my Kingdom is not of this world."
37Pilate replied, "You are a king then?"
"You say that I am a king, and you are right," Jesus said. "I was born for that purpose. And I came to bring truth to the world. All who love the truth recognize that what I say is true."
The Jews were expecting earthly kingdom. In a sense, they almost were cheating themselves with that expectation! The Kingdom of God is BEYOND any human expectation! There is nothing that can truly, completely, and accuratly explain the Kingdom! Even Christ Himself pondered, more than once, the basic yet tough question:
Luke 13:18
Then Jesus asked, "What is the kingdom of God like? What shall I compare it to?
There are things, like the things that Jesus continues to use, that can roughly "illustrate" and give out "ideas" of Heaven, but what can truly compare to it? God bless!

Good point.
If you believe in a "second coming" any man, woman, or child in the history of world could be the Messiah.
Say, for example, Abraham Lincoln...
Honest Abe didn't fulfill the messianic requirements during his lifetime ... no worries ... he will finish the job during his "second coming".
Only when the job of the Messiah is DONE will the world know who the Messiah is/was. And only then.

Jesus did not fulfill the prophecies according to Jewish belief. There was nothing foretold about "to be continued in the second coming", but there was a clear indication that failure to fulfill the prophecies as written would indicate a false messiah.

Jesus fulfilled the prophecies. I know the Jews were expecting a Messiah to deliver them from the Romans. When God chose to send Jesus as a baby, He knew it would show us how to live our lives, resist temptations and be baptized ,for example. When Jesus returns, he will come to the defense of Israel and he wont be a baby.

In the Old Testement, it shows there will be 2 comings of the Messisah, once lowly and riding on a donkey and once in great glory. Also, some prophecies wont happen until the end but Jesus fullfilled so MANY Messianic prophecies that there is only a 1 in 800,000,000 chance that He was NOT the messiah

He did return all Jews to Israel, The spiritual Israel. However not all Jews see the truth just as has been through all time.
He did establish peace, he destroyed the power of sin thereby bringing peace. Satan knows his time is short and fits and starts at the fact.
He did end paganism and idolatry, humans are the ones who keep bringing them back into the picture.
There is a concept of his second coming in many of the writings of the prophets, you just need to read them.

The prophecies about messiah was that
1 he should keep the laws of prophet hood
2 he should not preach ungodly things
3 he must be a human
4 he must not die during his mission
But if he dies during his mission he is not at all messiah
as far as i know only muslims believe that he was not crucified!

If Messiah implies the promised one or the one that brings real peace
then I would ask :"Do you know of anybody who was such a total messenger of LOVE as Jesus was ?"
But Christ was NOT a Christian ! He was and still is

Jesus fulfilled the prophecies of the Old Testament. Many did not accept him as Messiah because he failed to meet their own personal interpretations of Scripture.

He has already fullfilled prophecy for all of us. He will return and many Jewish people will put their faith in him. One day, Israel will be the center of Christianity.
