i know i know... i've read about 10 q&a's on yahoo alone regarding this problem.. but being a cronic hypocondriac, i just can't help myself. :P
so here's the story.. i've went to a party a week ago. hard smoking and drinking, shots and 1+ pack o cigarettes. the next day i woke up with a very sore throat.. after buying some antiseptic pills, the soreness went away little by little. BUT, after 9 days.. i still have a dryness sensation near my palatine veil. i guess that paying constant atention to it and dry caughing all the time didn't help, nor the fact that i exercised in the cold 2 days and drank a cold beer a couple of days ago.
but i'm still worried. i've been a casual smoker for 3 to 4 years, i'm 17 now. i'm quite worried about cancer. googleing (no advertising sry) around + my imagination is a bad combination.
i'm not worried about the sensation of iritation and dryness when i breathe through the nose, but more of the duration of my condition. 9+days.

I would say at age 17 the risk is quite low that you have throat cancer. Your pain and other symptoms are probably due to the smoking, partying, and you probably picked up a viral illness. I would recommend that you stop smoking though - you are putting yourself at higher risk of getting head and neck cancer, lung cancer, heart disease, etc later in life if you do not. If your symptoms persist, follow-up with your primary care doctor to have it checked out.

Gees...all that smoking and drinking couldn't possibly have contributed any COULD IT?? STOP SMOKING!
You smoke and drink like that now you won't make it to 30. Trust me on that. Some people are hyper-sensitive to the effects of smoke too and develop bacterial and fungal infections and that is why you're not getting better. Be kind to your body. Why do you mistreat it so? People should smoke outside and not indoors. Get them in the habit of doing that at parties for the sake of those who don't and then JOIN the ranks of those who don't.
You KNOW that smoking causes cancer...lung cancer and especially throat cancer...(they remove your voice box usually!) is the worst type of cancer you could possibly want to die from and if cancer doesn't get you emphysema will. The very least you likely develop asthma within 5 to 10 years so why do you do it?
I want to scare the **** out of you because someone needs to in order for you to do what you know you must.

If you worry about cancer why are you smoking? Don't do it. Go to the doctor and have them check you out, you probably just have a cold. Many people smoke their whole lives and never get cancer, on the other hand some people do. My Great Grandmother died of it. I wish she had the chance to go back and make better decisions but she doesn't. You have the chance to change, don't wait until you're dying to stop. Good luck!

don't worry, i experience the same thing every now and then, especially after hard partying. i even lose my voice sometimes because of that lol
i'm not saying it's ok to smoke. from what i read, u're a casual smoker, all smokers started out as casual smokers, i suggest u quit before it evolves to a serious one. it's not fun freeze ur a$$ in cold rainy weather just to have a lousy cigarette, smell bad, waste of money. i wish i quit since i was still at that stage. now with all the smoking bans, we can only smoke in the street 10 m away from any entrance, beurk

It was all of that smoking, you really need to try and give it up. My uncle died of lung cancer and that wasn't a pretty site. Even if you can't quiet all at once, just slow down a bit. Hey, I use to smoke 2 packs a day myself, I started chewing gum and reduced that to 1 pack a day and now I kicked the habit.
