This is true for newborn babies. You are thinking of jaundice. For some reason, some babies, mostly premies need light, that is one of the reasons they put them in incubators aside from the fact they generate heat. But they found that some babies placed in dark rooms for days and days developed jaundice. I don't know if there is more to it than that but the symptoms are yellow skin and eyes and it does have some effect on your kidney or liver...have to research it but I remember that much.

Being in the dark is not good for you period. You get bad eyesight if you read in the dark. You get that (lack of sunlight) syndrome...forget what that is called but basically they refer to it as the winter "blahs"...people need sunshine and they find that in offices where they put light that simulates natural sunlight, people are happier and do better. It has to do more with your mood than any physical symptoms.

If you read or do homework where it is too dark to see the words easily, you may get eye strain, but there will be no permanent damage.

How does reading (taking in information through the eyes using the optical nerve and sending signals to the brain) affect your urinary system? Who has been yanking your chain?

That does not seem possible. The only thing that would most likely be effected is your eyes (lack of concentration due to lack of light)

I don't see how that could happen, but I'd look it up on Google or some medical website. As far as I know, the answer is no.
