Many clubs and instructor deserve it. They are no better than con artist. They claim to be able to teach you things when they actually can't.

Try go to any school that doesn't do fullcontact sparring or competition and tell the insturctor you're a professional fighter and ask why they don't spar. I promise you the instructor will most likely freak out or shut up about how effective their art are. That's because they know they learned really watered down system and have no real skill, so they make living by selling black belt. Or they simply never learn anything but pretend to know a style and teach them to people who doesn't know very much about martial arts.

However if you're in club or class that competition, it could be because students are bitter. For example when I still live in Las Vegas, I was at one gym for a year and half then move to other gym and few more students does as well. So other students keep put other gym down. Also other gym had problem with one gym because the gym put in a fighter with over 45 fights against a novice fighter. So that install bad blood among them. So next time someone bad mouth, be sure to ask why and investage the whole things out, you may will be surprise. What if the other instructor is known to molest their female students? That have happened many time in past. So keep your ears and eyes open and you may will start see many things you ever knew before.

Your best bet is too not talk to people about martial arts. Really what end do you hope to achieve by doing this? Can any good come of it?
This is the only way to avoid such people.
On the other side of the coin if people know a school is fraudulent isn't it their duty to speak up? This is the only way to let people know there is something very wrong at certain institutions. Sometimes the different wording between bashing a school and revealing a fraud can be very subtle.

I find that people always have an opinion. Some we agree with others we don't. If a person can back up ther opinion with hard facts than perhaps it is more than an opinion.

It's part pride and part stupidity.
People take pride in their martial art and they take it personally because it's a real part of them.
People also don't know much aout other arts and tend to bash them from what they hear. Alot of instructors stand before their class and bash other schools and instructors. They may have some beef with them or feel threatened by their business. Whatever the reason, the student starts repeating what the instructor has said without firsthand knowledge.
About the only thing you can do is to feel pity for the feeble minded and walk away. It's like religion and politics, you are not going to change their minds so don't even try.

hiya. (black belt 2nd dan) i too hear this all the time & i think it starts when a student 1st joins a club & constantly gets told that the particular martial art is "the best" even i,ve been guilty of this years ago until an incident down town made me realise that no martial art can prepare u 4 everything. cross training is good & to try & have an open mind. study different martial arts & keep the things that work & get rid of the fancy stuff that doesn,t! happy training

easy they want money. this is marketing and how martial artists work in northamerica mainly. Most martial artists taht are well learned will say that no school is better than other schools because every school has differences and pros and cons. North America is the worst, they are so close minded i've grow up here the most and its mainly becuase our culture seems to be so competitive. The otehr big stand point is people taht work out at gyms watch teh UFC and are like i can do that and since its so poular they can. But any big moron can jump in a ring than it becomes a sport. A martial artist is able to fight in any situation to any extent with any type of fighter thats how its supposed to work. SO your going to hear this endlesly because sorry to say peopel think the UFC is hard core fighting because its all we are exposed to.

Any martial arts training is better than no martial arts training. No professional in this field would ever embarrass another martial arts, that is something we professionals do not due. Like one reader already said "my dog is better than his dog" or I like blue, he only like red! They key elements to any martial arts training is the quality of the instructor, and his ability to teach, coach, motivate, and set an example to not only his students but also his community. If the martial arts training at the university can develop self confidence, teach and train you to protect yourself and your loved ones on the street from a street gang, criminal, or just a "bad ***", then the martial arts has served its purpose.

you cant shut them up they will always bad mouth another club/martial art just because their instructor has drilled this into them. i have come across c**ks like this before and all you can do is walk away martial arts teach self control you may feel you are backing down but all you are doing is not lowering yourself down to their level. people badmouth other things they havent tried but if they did try they would still say it was crap due to loyalty to their club/instructor because of it being drilled in to them from the beginning. also those who say these things usually cant fight i have been in this situation (after 3 yrs bullying) and i only came out with bruised knuckles from hitting them so hard

Wow, you paid an instructor and he did not clarify any of this to you? i might propose a swap. golf is a interest of accuracy and distance. each and each club has a distinctive loft and the nice and cozy button is to come to a decision how some distance you hit each and each club. the driving force or a million wood, would be the longest and greatest club on your bag and you're able to hit it the furthest. that could desire to be accompanied via the three, 5 wood (some human beings have a 4 wood). Woods are the golf equipment with the enormous head (they was made up of wood) and irons are the thinner steel golf equipment. a classic set is a million, 3 and 5 woods and 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 iron and pitching wedge (PW). The decrease the type on the iron or wood the smaller degree of loft it has and the added it is going. case in point, I hit my 8 iron one hundred fifty yards and that i there's a 10 backyard disance in between golf equipment. consequently, I hit my 7 iron a hundred and sixty, my 6 iron one hundred seventy etc. bear in concepts those are my distances and you will could desire to parent yours out on the type. once you're playing golf club decision is best. in case you have one hundred eighty yards to the eco-friendly you're able to desire to apply the club you hit one hundred eighty yards. bear in concepts the ball will pass added from the golf green (the fast grass) then this is going to from the tough (long grass) and you're able to % your club subsequently. desire this helps.

Whenever you have a style on the street... they always bad mouth the other styles.

I dont know why its like that... I guess the more you bad mouth it... the more member you get because you believe his style is better (and hell get more money also).

I dont care what people say to me... I do what I beleive works, and you should too.

I plan to setup my own club... and if people want to bit*h about it, they can.

The ones that bit*h... are the ones that are afraid, and question their style in the first place!!!

All the best!!!

It's the pride factor, these're the people (to me, in my mind anyway) who just don't get what Martial Arts is about. he prob'ly tried the one @ the univerity and wound up with a bad taste in his mouth.

It's not about who's better, or which discipline is better, but what YOU get out of it, and if your receptive enough, you'll get a great deal more than just learning how to fight
