Its not so much what we believe in, its what we dont believe in, the bible just doesnt make logical sence to us, therefore we refuse to call ourselves, Christian e.t.c.

Personally i believe that religion was created as a tool to control the masses, at a time when govenments were not a well developed concept.

People would be farming the land, minding there own business and some idiot would come along raping and pillaging.

Some bright spark decided to create Religion to suggest that that type of behaviour was bad and would one day be punished...

These days we have govenments and Police forces and we would just lock the s.o.b up.

If your asking what i believe brought us (humanity) here
then hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Not sure, i do however believe in Evolution, and DO NOT believe in ADAM & EVE as imo most religious people would not unless strongly encouraged to by your peers.

However the bible is a really good storybook, and in the absence of anything better a really good prescription for living your life

I am often labeled as an "athiest" though I truly am not. I am a poly-theist. However, most athiests share my views that there is absolutely No Way that christianity, or any other of the major religions, could be correct. Also, there is too much scientific evidence (which is far more reliable than any "holy book") that is directly contradictory to monotheism (or any other religious belief for that matter!).

everybody should be able to believe in whatever they so want without the 'Religion Police' getting on their back.
The Spanish Inquisition has been and gone, thank goodness, and we have stopped burning people at the stake.
Does it matter who or what your God is even if you don't have one?
Why can't we just treat people how we would like to be treated ourselves and be honest? It smacks of insecurity in ones own belief when they try and impose it on others and unfortunately that is what the majority of the God Squad seem to do on here.
Atheists believe in live and let live

What is it I believe?

I believe more things than I can possibly list, most of them trivial: I exist, my name is [whoops! not going to divulge that here], two cats took up residence where I live (but only one dares come inside the house), the language I'm using is English, there are many dozens of books in my room, when I shut down the computer I can choose whether to watch Dick Van Dyke or A Fine Romance or West Wing or Northern Exposure or Seinfeld without having to change disks in my DVD player, I've got my hair, I've got my head, I've got my brains, I've got my ears, I'm typing on a computer hooked to the internets via a phone line, I've spent way too much time on YA today, too many people on YA give Absolutely No Friggin' Context To Their Questions, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on.

Some of the deeper things I believe are that suffering sucks; and most human suffering is avoidable; that education is the likeliest solution to this problem; that this is a world of the walking wounded, most people having been mangled in ways that interfere with their humanity, making them deeply confused; that human manglement can be healed; that most people would live and let live if not manipulated and mangled in ways that make them feel the need to attack other mangled beings; that the most common reaction humans have to human suffering is to feel that it sucks; and that this is the one thing that will lead to our finally getting a frickin' clue and digging out way out of all of the suckiness.

"Deep in my heart, I do believe we shall overcome some day."

What do you believe?

That there doesn't have to be a Higher Power to force a moral code on you - you should be wise and compassionate enough to do that for yourself. That you should do what's right because it's right, not out of fear of some reprecussion from your distant god..... that the world would be a much more peaceful place if everyone would stop killing each other in the names of their gods... I could go on forever here....

That the very concept of god(s) is ridiculous, and was created by humans to fill the part of the Psyche which demands security.
