I do not mean English Muffins. Muffins like the ones with chocolate chips, oatmeal, raisins etc.

We call them muffins (and yes I do know the ones you are talking about, chocolate chip, blueberry, etc).

'English muffins' are actually not very well known in England, the only place I have ever eaten them are in mcdonalds. If you ask someone for a muffin in England you will be given the type of muffin everyone calls a muffin (with choc-chip, etc).

Muffins... a scone is a type of biscuit (American biscuit), and as you metioned, an English muffin is a type of sourdough roll. I have shopped at English tea shops, owned by English people, and they all call them muffins on the high tea menu. I even asked once if their muffins were really "muffins", and the kind lady from Devonshire said, "Why, of course they are. What else would we call them???"
