No. I know that I waste far too many of them. I often thank God that He is so generous with time.

It's all too easy to take life for granted. I'm sure near death experiences help one to appreciate life all the more. There is however ways to practice living in the present moment. One such book that gives tools to do so is called The Power of Now by Echart Tolle. It is a little too New Agey for my tastes but if you can look over the fluffy stuff and glean the essence it can help you to move to the next level in your spiritual life.
Enjoy the moment : )

Having been in a coma for 22 days and clinically dead from being hit by a drunk driver... and having had 4 suicide attempts and been in 12 hospitals for suicidal ideation. I can tell you that I can not see anything precious about life through the warm tears I have shed as my eyes are blinded because of the pain.
I believe there is hope... but while life has it's beauty... it is like a rose... and life has it's thorns as well.
I am glad you can appreciate life... but for me... it is just a struggle to make it one day to the next.

Probably not. Most of us are too busy wondering about stupid things, worrying about little things, or focusing on unimportant things. The only time we stop and think about it, other than in rare moments of clarity, is when we've lost those moments, and they're gone forever.
Even worse, those moments of clarity, when you realize what you've got and how much it means, are far too fleeting. Given enough time, they fade into the background, and we're back to the same old rat race, trapped in a daily grind where we aren't paying attention.

That is a large portion of being spiritually awake. Living a conscious life is being consciously aware of every moment of your life. Too few people ever grasp the concept and fewer still can maintain it for any length of time. It is the state that a Spiritual Master lives their life in, always grateful for this moment, this time to experience the joy and wonderment of life.

I think that few appreciate their life until they come close to losing it. there are some that do. Living in the moment is one of the hardest things to learn how to do, but those who do, who wake up from the sleep of not being in the now, they appreciate it enough to be in present time, not dreaming of the future, or idling in the memories of the past in either regret or longing for bygone times.
It is far easier to be unconscious to the present and takes some effort to live here conscious of the now.

We only have 24 hrs in a day.. and many of us have jammed pack days.. you yourself know that quite well. I think we know that each moment is precious but sometimes in dealing with daily life, in the things that have to be done for our survival and comfort or the comfort and survival of others we push this to the back of our minds.
When I have slower moments, moments in which to relax and reflect yes I then realize how precious existence is.

Having lost a very good friend to a brain tumor a few days ago he was 44, yes it does make you realise you should live every day to the fullest. But I have been doing that anyway since I ducked out of organised religion.

A moment with God is more worthy than the whole of our life span. An instant with God would make me happy and joyful to the rest of my life. If it is that way with God, then how would it be if we spend eternity with him? What no eyes can see, or thoughts of our mind tell what God has prepared for those who love Him.l
