Some people get a cold sore once in there lives. However it is cause by Herpes.

Cold sore is caused by a virus. It lingers in your system and then something - stress-illness-trauma to the lip- causes the virus to over grow - causing the cold sore.

Herpes simplex 1, a close relative of the STD Herpes you hear about in school. Surprisingly enough, the same medications can treat both virus inflammations. Good luck.

when your tired, stressed, menstrural, not eating right. you can catch it from kissing, sharing drinks, using someone elses flannel/towel. it is part of the herpes virus - usually once you have it you always carry it. some people have luck and they only come once and never suffer again others will have recurring occassions. you can get over the counter medicines to help when one comes try not to give other people contact when you have one as they contageous. it is also caused by vitimin diffency i would reccomend keeping your diet excellent, sleep well get rest,also use a uv lip balm to keep lips healthy to reduce out breaks....hope helps
