I'm hispanic and I'm an Atheist. If you've ever been to Latin America, you'll see people there are rarely like the Mexicans you see here in America. In America you only get to interact with the poor hispanics. That would be like living in England and having a bunch of white American redneck (or any other race's poor people) immigrants there and concluding they aren't too intelligent. I won't even go into the whole socio-economic and religious influence that goes on there.

And in fact, hispanics aren't a race because it's hybrid if you follow their family tree. I am half Italian and Spanish from Spain. I know some people who are full Portuguese, and there are some that have french and middle eastern lineages. Only a small sector has a native-only blood line.

As for your question I believe that Santeria is not Christian. There a hundreds of religions in Africa that do not include Christianity, including Islam. You should not forget the many atheists there are, as well. Did you ever think of how Christianity was spread? By ignorant Europeans.
