A prominent person is one who stands out for some reason. Someone who is noticable in a crowd. If somebody 'figured prominently' in some endeavor or production, it means that they were the most visible - perhaps they carried the heaviest workload, or donated the most money.
Like a large nose might be a prominent fixture on a face - it REALLY stands out and gets noticed. Prominent in stature might mean that the person is taller than everyone around them, or has a more muscular physique.
Just think of it in terms of "noticable" or "stands out" from the rest. That'll help you most of all.

Sex comes with a relationship... but it really depends on how long you two have been going out, how comfortable you are around eachother etc. As I dont know the lengths, i'll try to compare it to say a marriage... Okay so if you two are in a monogamous relationship (like a marriage), sex comes part of the package. A marriage with no sex is literally two friends flatting together. The same thing applies to a relationship. If you expect the other person to be loyal and not look for sex elsewhere, you'll have sex. And its not like the sex should be a chore or anything; you should both enjoy it. You should both WANT to have sex with eachother. If this guy broke up with you after a lengthy period because he couldnt get sex from you, I suppose it sort of makes sense. I would personally get quite frustrated if my girlfriend kept sex from me (assuming we had been going out a couple of months). Sex brings two people closer together and creates a sort of closeness that you dont have with any other person. I do think though that this guy is just horny and just wants some sex. Him liking you and wanting to have sex for the closeness is reasonable. But saying that guys need sex is another thing entirely. A guy who just wants some sex doesnt really need a relationship. And this guy sounds like he is able to get sex in places other than in a relationship. My guess is he'll find another reason for dumping you even after you start having sex with him.

*sigh* if I can go to websters website so can you. But the word is most commonly assoicated with wealth and status....For instance, The Jones family seems to be of a promient stature. Which could mean they are pillars of the community or because the wife drives a Benz and the husband drives a Beemer. *shrug*

It means you were a big influence in whatever outcome there was. I once had an employee who figured prominently in our decision to drug test all future applicants. Not always a compliment, but at least you know you are noticed.
