Unless you were making pretzels or salt-lick-for deer you have too much salt and too little sugar - but you must have known that if you tasted them. In fact if you had ever baked before you would have known that by looking at the recipe so maybe this is just a joke non-question.

Ha, you are kidding right? Should be a tablespoon of salt and 3 cups of sugar. A pound of butter sounds like a lot too. Maybe just a stick

Read the recipe again. Sounds like you misread.Try adding some baking soda 1 tbsp.3 c sugar and tbsp salt. Was the butter room Temp?Try those and see what happens. They are sugar cookies or short bread from the sound of the recipe.Take your time and mix well.1 teaspoon vanilla might go a long way as well.

Surely you are not that uninformed. Cookies are sweet, wouldn't 3 cups of salt clue you in that the recipe was wrong. Why are you asking this question somewhere other than cooking?
The recipe you have might make pretzels.

maybe you have the wrong oven temp. Probably should have been 500degrees to nuke that mixture.
