My Testimony : I was at church praying for the Lord to fill me with his spirit and someone was with me and they told me to Believe and Receive. and i was still praying with tears in my eyes and all of sudden as i thought about it I called on JESUS and it was like a fire was ignited in my bones and like my stomach felt like rushing water and i began to start speaking in another language uncontrolable and it felt gooooddddd like a super annointing had been poured into me and when i got home i continued to pray and the speech became more clear although i still didnt understand what i was saying. and i have had spiritual discernment and the power to live ABOVE SIN AND REPROACH ever since.

Yes, most definitely do I believe that you can be filled with the Holy Spirit and begin to speak in tongues, for I have been blessed with such a gift once before. It is interesting that your experience involved the sensation of fire and water, whereas with mine I received the sensation of being pulled upwards by wind and the words flowing from my mouth like music. I play the violin, sing, write music (mainly classical or "new age" sort of things without lyrics), and listen to it all the time, so I often think in music rather than words. I guess it kinda makes sense when you think of it in that way.

And I too had the experience where afterwards I felt spiritually strengthened. Also, strangely enough, all the french that I had learned in my three years of french classes (which I felt I had pretty much forgotten since it had been a while since my last class) suddenly started coming back to me, and at times even more clearly than it had been when I was still taking the class! I have always had a great love of languages, so to have that happen made me a very happy person.

I wish I knew which language I spoke in when I spoke in tongues, since I was in such awe that it was actually happening that my mind seemed to only notice the way my throat vibrated with each word and the way my tongue seemed to mainly stay near the front of my mouth as it formed the words, like whatever I was saying was in a very flowing language with many sounds produced in a similar way as the english L. I don't think it was french though, since speaking in french feels like spring rain on a summer's wind, while this felt more like a violin music, like "Winter" (allegro) from Vivaldi's Four Seasons. I haven't gotten a chance to ask those who were there to hear it if any of them could translate what I said, but I should get a chance to ask next Sunday.

But anyway, there's just part of my experience. Glad to hear of another receiving the gift. God bless!

Been there. Done that. You are being deceived by the devil. The so-called "speaking in tongues" today is a form of self-hypnosis. You are in the wrong church. I don't believe you are living above sin and reproach. I'll pray for you.

Humm, how come I have only hearf of one religious belief that speaks in tongues? And pretty much all other religions say it is fake? Are you bragging or trying to convert everyone into your belief? Or did you just take a hit of some kind of drug. Sounds like purple micro dot to me. Those were the good old days was they not? I am impressed you can still find that stuff. Most people switched to crank.

Congratulations... you have advanced beyond mere self-delusion, and have achieved the exhalted state of 'schizoaffective disorder'.

Today, Christians seem to think that 'Speaking in Tongues' means babbling incoherently. It is a kind of induced hysteria.

In the bible, someone who had the 'gift of tongues' could be speaking to a crowd in Greek, for example, and people who did NOT speak Greek would hear and understand the speaker in their own language... just like the 'babblefish' in Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.

Of course, just like the 'babblefish', this is pure horseshit.

Most definitely! It's one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. I've prayed for it for years, but I haven't received it yet. I know that one day I'll receive. I'm very happy for you!!!! Great testimony!

You're getting carried away with emotion. Benny Hinn would agree with you, though. Check out his video clip below.
