I've often wondered that same thing. I think it's because farmers make more money off from pumpkin trees - especially the ones that grow those monster pumpkins!

Watermelons come from a ground vine, not a tree. Watermelons require sandy soil and alot of water.

Apple trees can grow in a variety of climates from cold/wet to hotter and less moisture.

There is no such things as watermelon trees. Watermelons grow on vines on the ground.

Sorry hun but you got everything screwed up. Watermelons don't grow on trees they grow on these vine like things in the ground. We don't see them very often because it is very hard to grow them, they are extremely sensitive to the weather especially Florida!

Someone else thought it was stupid that acorns grow on trees and pumpkins grow on vines until an acorn fell off a tree and hit him on the head. Then he understood why big things like pumpkins (and watermelons) grow on vines instead of trees.

watermelons (and pumpkins) do NOT grow on trees! They grow from vines....
