You will love DC! I came here for the first time when I was 16 on a field trip, and moved here after I graduated college.
It could be warm or cool at Easter time. I would bring some clothes you could layer (short sleeved tops with sweaters or sweatshirts to put over them depending on the temperature). Comfy walking shoes, and maybe nicer flats if you go to theater or a concert or to a better restaurant. Bring a skirt set just to be safe, but mostly casual.
Most hotels have hair dryers, irons and ironing boards in the rooms, so no need to pack those. Just any other accessories you need (curling or straightening irons and stuff) and toiletries.
Bring a small purse but carry your money in one of those fanny packs. Don't carry too much money at once, and be careful. Stay in groups, and don't wander off.
DC is great - make sure you hit all the monuments and museums, even though American History is closed for renovation, the other Smithsonians are open and they are free and fantastic. Have a blast!

I was there last Easter, and it was a bit cool. The flowers had started blooming, though, so it was pretty nice. You will have a lot of fun! But as someone else said, bring good walking shoes. There is a LOT of walking between all the interesting things in DC. More than likely, unless you have a special event, just bring the kind of clothes you wear at home, nothing real dressy or anything. Tourists in DC are usually dressed pretty casual, while the working people are somewhat "stylish".

heavily, the human beings who say the city isn't chance-free have not been in the city for years, obviously. the area at latest adjacent the Marine Barracks on the east area, and on the west area all a thanks to the Capitol is amazingly outstanding. truly chance-free also as there's a lot of safe practices for the Capitol and otherwise. The factors to the north of the Marine Barracks are outstanding as a ways north as structure Ave. NE (perchance a contact extra north the closer you get to the Capitol). some thing more effective than a block east of the Marine Barracks is undesirable information for human beings that are not attentive to the area (there are some very outstanding neighborhoods, yet you need to draw close what you're doing). some thing more effective than 2 blocks south of the Marine Barracks is likewise undesirable information, completely and thoroughly. the area round Nationals stadium is starting to be without delay, yet crammed with great condominium homes complete of small units, no longer extremely good for a relatives. outside of the instant area of the Marine Barracks, Glover Park, Georgetown, Palisades, Woodley Park, Cleveland Park, sixteenth St. Heights, and Chevy Chase (DC area) are very outstanding. outside of Cleveland and Woodley Parks, notwithstanding, public transportation is more effective constrained (buses actually, no direct get entry to to the subway). All of those factors are extreme priced. A 2-bedroom on the Hill (each and every of the factors around the Barracks) will run you between $2100 and $2500 a month to employ, and $400,000+ to purchase (that ought to nicely be a thieve, btw). Georgetown, Palisades, and Woodley Park are even larger. the basically right bargains I have considered in the city are in Glover Park, yet you're nevertheless speaking about $1700+ to employ and $350,000+ to purchase a 2-mattress. The suburbs should be basically right for a relatives searching for area on a constrained funds. Even a $1M+ homestead in the city gained't get you a backyard. yet do not allow the "DC is like the Gaza Strip" chorus fool you.

Well you should know the stuff you need personally for your own care. I would bring plenty of warm clothes though. It is not that warm here in D.C. in the winter. Also, bring sneakers, you are going to be doing a lot of walking! Don't forget your camera and a lot of money, D.C. is expensive! Good luck!
