Some forms of Cancer Aids and Diabetes are curable.
Most of these studies and cures take years to develop and millions and millions of dollars to bring to market because of all the red tape getting them there.

As to why all forms are not curable has to do a lot with who is going to pay to find the cure and to those that don't want a cure to be found because they make too much money off of the diseases to allow that.
I have been waiting for 25 years for a cure for type 1 diabetes here in America and stem cell research seems the most promising but the politicians keep setting that back year after year as people are marching towards a certain death.

I am however encouraged by what other countries are doing to promote stem cell research and as soon as they find a cure I will be on a plane to that country to get the procedure done.

What advances require is a new creative idea. Most advanaces are incremental - someone comes up with an idea to improve an existing treatment - diabetes treatments are improving.

But to come up with a cure requires a conceptual leap of an idea, to something totally new. No matter how much money is invested, it may be like finding a way to get everyone to run a mile in 4 mintues - it just ain't gonna happen.

But WE (the public) can help too - stop smoking, use a condom, get fit, etc. - these can help reduce the indcidence of HIV & cancer.

My husband and I were having a conversation involving a similiar topic recently..We believe the "government" has a cure for many of the diseases we suffer from. And for many reasons keeps them under wraps. One reason could be diseases that kill people in their eyes is population control....plus there wouldn't be money generated like there is now with treatments if there was a cure. Something to think about..do you think we know everything..I'm sure we don't know the half of it.

Because people still smoke, people drive too much, there are too many artificial preservatives in our foods, our air sucks, people do not exercise enough. We don't use enough preventative measures and that is the most important. Everyone always wants science to find a cure for everything. Why don't we just try to prevent things instead.

Because medical companies are making way too much money on drugs to treat these illnesses. If drugs were introduced that could cure them they would be losing hundreds of millions of dollars. They spend the money they have looking for more ways to "treat" them, not on ways to cure them. This way they ensure the money keeps rolling in.

In part because the pharmaceutical companies don't work together and share research. Also, there's no money in the cure but plenty of money to be had in the treatment.
