I have had gym memberships, but I din't go. I live in a good neighborhood that is perfect for walking and I don't walk. How can I get focused. I have no excuse... what's my problem. Does anyone else feel this way?

Sure! Everyone has bad days. I guess the main thing to remember is to think of each day as a completely new slate. Skipped the gym yesterday? Add an extra 10 minutes to your workout today. Ate a lot at dinner yesterday? Have a fruit cup for breakfast today, instead of a bagel or whatever you usually do. You know? Don't make it anything too hard (like if you skip the gym one day and promise to add 1 hour to your workout the next day - that will feel like a punishment, which is no fun) but doing a little extra will make you feel better about yourself.

EDIT: If you get bored at the gym, try different workouts like kickboxing or dancing. Something that gets you moving but isn't same old-same old like treadmills or weight-lifting. Another thing that keeps me going to the gym every day is putting fun, upbeat songs on my iPod. Also, there's a free podcast called PodRunner which is made up of different beats played at different speeds. It's kind of fun and it should help to keep you motivated!

Good luck!

I feel the same way. I have begun to exercise more. For me it's about a lot of things but one of them is that I'm bored or feel I could be doing something more productive when I exercise. It's hard to be motivated when you dislike exercise and feel like your obligations aren't being taken care of. I feel like I could get something done or at least sit down for a few minutes and relax instead of exercise.

I went down to the library and checked out an audio book for when I'm driving in the car but I found it the most useful when I'm doing something I normally don't like doing such as housework or exercising. This helps motivate me. I'm pulled along by the story and my own decision to only listen to the books when I'm active (or doing something I hate like housework). It also makes the time exercising or cleaning go by faster. Now I buy and check out audio books quite frequently because it works for me.

This may not be the best motivator for you but it tends to work for me. I've started downloading tracks and putting them on my MP3 player so I don't even have to mess around with switching discs.

I been getting better though and eating better foods and actually exercising but the hard thing is my doctor doesn't want me going too wild cuz I got bad bad legs. I'm getting better though! We need to find diet buddies and workout with them!! Good luck and hope you achieve the goals you desire!!

i had a personal fitness trainer, and still couldnt get motivated! Dont be too harsh on yourself, you can exercise at home, running up and down the stairs ect, doesnt have to be stressful. Have you tried doing something you enjoy, swimming perhaps?
