Is there something special about horse poo? I mean, the piles are far larger than any dog could make.

I suspect its a lot to do with what is achievable. I mean horse poop is huge - think of the size they would have to make "horse dirt bins". People would mistake them for telephone boxes with consequences that don't bare thinking about.....

Also horses don't eat mutt food and consequently their poop is marginally less offensive than their four footed canine colleagues.

Finally (and seriously) you can honestly get sort of big nappies for horses that are designed to catch the poo. But apparently they are not very effective and fall off.

So -there you go............

When out riding a horse, getting on & off creates a problem for the rider.
When walking a dog, normally your walking behind the animal, so it's easier to pick up the poo.

I think it is because horses are vegetarians and their waste breaks down easier but I'm just guessing. Either way I hate seeing and smelling fresh horse crap on my favorite trails. The only trail poo I am tolerant of is llama and goat. No stink, no huge pile.

What a great question. I guess because they figure that horses are part of the habitat and dogs are brought in as pets. I do agree that they should pick up. gross!

i never really noticed that but you are exactly right. on the fourth of July my pit almost walked right into a big pile of horse poop after the parade on Federal Hill, in Baltimore.

yeah - when horse goes - it really goes - that would be mean to expect people to pick up after a horse.

You answered your own question. How would a horse rider pick up and carry ALL THAT POOP?
