If you pay the fine then you are admitting guilt. If you fight the ticket then there is a chance that you can get points back and get the original offense changed.

Go to court. plead guilty. ask for time to pay the fine. they always grant time to pay. Then over pay the fine by 2 or three dollars. When they send you the refund check, burn it. As of today NYC computer system can't close the case an assess points unless all monies are distributed. Good luck.

Would be a good idea to get a NY DL if you've moved there. Sometimes they'll be a bit more lenient if you show you're trying. As far as reckless driving, that's up to the judge..

I tried that trick for paying over (5 bucks for me) in PA and they kept the difference with no thought about it.

Someone told me you'd have to overpay by $1000 to make it a pending issue and someone will pursue you on it.

It's only worth your while if you have other pending penalities coming up or concurrently occuring.

PLEASE - everyone thinks of some lazy woman with fake nails sipping diet pepsi is looking over your check - it's all computers these days people get real - the DMV isn't that bad.

you will pay the fine if you plead guilty and the ticket goes on your record. You may try and see if they will allow things like drivers training and the such
